The Love Of Work Is Success

“The privilege to work is a gift. The power to work is a blessing. The love of work is success.” – David O. McKay

Last Friday I woke up at 4am to get ready to drive up two hours to Logan Utah so I could give the opening keynote speech for the Huntsman Venture Forum business conference.  We had a huge rainstorm that morning so the traffic was absolutely nuts and there were accidents from people hydroplaning on the freeway all over the place. To say I was white-knuckling the steering wheel would be an understatement. But thank heavens I made it in time to give my talk.

As soon as I finished that talk I had to head to the Center for Growth and Opportunity at Utah State University to do a mentoring session with the amazing girls in the Amy Rees Anderson Academic Entrepreneurs Program.

And then I drove three hours to get down to BYU so I could speak on a panel at the Ethics & Compliance Conference:

It was one long, crazy busy, yet AWESOME day!  And after all of that my husband and I had to run by a celebration for our friend’s 50th birthday.  By the time I got into bed that night it was after midnight and I was one worn out lady.

Then last night after a full day of working I went to speak at the Utah Wonder Woman event where I was interviewed by the fabulous Jacki Zehner about my book “What Awesome Looks Like: How to Excel in Business & Life”.  It was an incredible event and so much fun to spend time with over 100 of Utah’s most amazing women business leaders.

So why do I do it? Why would I be putting in 20+ hour days when I could be sitting on a beach somewhere sipping a virgin pina colada?  Because I LOVE it! I love the work I am doing! I love speaking to the business community and speaking at Universities. I love spending my time giving back and sharing the things I learned that helped me achieve success. I love helping others to excel – and I feel very fortunate to get to spend my time doing just that. #blessed
