“A blink is like a teeny, tiny clap for your face. So even if no one else is cheering you on today, your eyelids are.”

Somedays you have to be your own cheerleader.  Some days you have to look in the mirror just like the little girl in this AWESOME video clip and say out loud, “I like myself, I like my hair, I can do anything!”  Watch this short little video clip and see exactly what I am talking about 🙂

We spend far too much of our time putting ourselves down.  We criticize how we look.  We criticize our own weaknesses.  We do a tremendous amount of negative self-talk, even if we do it in our head without saying it out loud, it is still damaging and destructive to our self-worth.  That is why I love the quote I put for the title of today’s blog:   “A blink is like a teeny, tiny clap for your face.  So even if no one else is cheering you on today, your eyelids are.”  It’s such a great reminder that we need to be more positive about ourselves, and build ourselves up in life and cheer ourselves on.

Interesting enough, a woman who worked with terminally ill patients often asked them what their biggest regrets were from their life.  One of the regrets shared was that they wish they had let themselves be happier.  Note the phrases “let themselves be happier”, which was them acknowledging that they now recognize that they had that choice – they could have chosen to let themselves be happier.    It’s so easy to say, “I’ll be happy when I lose 10 pounds” (I know because I say that to myself way too often!), or to say  “I’ll be happy when I finish ______” or “I’ll be happy when I can get _____”.  When what we should be doing is standing in front of the mirror yelling “I am awesome, I can do anything, I am gorgeous, I am HAPPY RIGHT NOW!”

Make a commitment this week to be your own cheerleader!  And every time your eyes blink consider it a round of applause meant just for YOU!  Have a great Monday!

Like Dilbert said… “There’s no kill switch on awesome.”

I love your article and the video link. It seems we are all taught from birth that it is selfish to consider ourselves first. But the reality is when a person says “I am the most important person in my world” and they understand that happiness is a choice you make, not something that happens to you, then they actually are a much more positive influence to everyone and every project in which they are involved.

Moms often get caught up in tending to the needs of others that they forget to make their own happiness a top priority.

We should all be this little girl each morning!

find out about this topic. You know so much its almost tough to argue with you (not that I personally would
want to…HaHa). You definitely put a new spin
on a topic which has been discussed for years.
    Excellent stuff, just great!

Howdy! Quick question that’s entirely off topic. Do you know how to make your site mobile friendly?
My blog looks weird when viewing from my iphone.
I’m trying to find a template or plugin that might
be able to resolve this problem. If you have any recommendations,
    please share. With thanks!
