Be A Kid Again

Why is it that when we are young we just wish we could be a grown-up – then we become grown-ups and we can’t help but wish we could be a kid again.  I can’t recall where I got this list about being a kid again, but it brings back the memories of just how simple life was…

To Be a Kid Again:

· Decisions were made by going “eeny-meeny-miney-mo.”

· Mistakes were corrected by simply exclaiming, “do over!”

· “Race issue” meant arguing about who ran the fastest.

· Money issues were handled by whoever was the banker in “Monopoly.”

· Being old referred to anyone over 20.

· It was magic when dad would “remove” his thumb.

· It was unbelievable that dodgeball wasn’t an Olympic event.

· Nobody was prettier than Mom.

· Getting a foot of snow was a dream come true.

· “Oly-oly-oxen-free” made perfect sense.

· Abilities were discovered because of a “double-dog-dare.”

· Saturday morning cartoons weren’t 30-minute ads for action figures.

· Spinning around, getting dizzy and falling down was cause for giggles.

· War was a card game.

· Water balloons were the ultimate weapon.

· Baseball cards in the spokes transformed any bike into a motorcycle.

· Taking drugs meant orange-flavored chewable aspirin.

· Ice cream was considered a basic food group.

· Older siblings were the worst tormentors but also the fiercest protectors.

· Scrapes and bruises were kissed and made better.

“Walk in the rain, collect rainbows, smell flowers, stop along the way, build sand castles, watch the moon and stars come out, say hello to everyone, make up new rules, go on adventures, act silly, take bubble baths, hold hands and hug and kiss, dance, laugh and cry for the health of it, feel happy, say the magic words, and trust the Universe.”Bruce Williamson

I honestly can’t help but think that we could benefit by going back to the simple way we had of looking at things as kids.  Like what if we applied the “eeny-meeny-miney-mo” tactic to making decisions once in a while?  At least to the silly inconsequential decisions we tend to stress way too much about.  And what if we double dog dared ourselves to go for the things we are afraid of?  And certainly we would all be happier if we made ice cream part of our daily diet!

Today’s challenge is for all of us to be a kid again, at least once in a while. Laugh without reservation, be fascinated by every shiny object, and believe that anything is possible.  Oh, and when you get a scrape or bruise, make sure you find someone fabulous to kiss it all better.  🙂

This reminds of my son Adam (7) who yesterday after a long pause and intense thoughtful look on face earnestly asks me, “Dad how come I can say the big words but I can’t spell them?”

Wished I was a kid again how simple, how innocent

When someone writes an article he/she retains the plan of a user in his/her brain that how
a user can be aware of it. So that’s why this article is outstdanding.
