Being An Adult Is Like Folding A Fitted Sheet

“Being an adult is like folding a fitted sheet. No one really knows how.” -unknown

That is SO TRUE!  I still remember being a little kid and looking at the adults thinking “They are so lucky to be a grown up.” Then I became and adult and I was like, “Wait…what the?!?!…Well, this isn’t at all what I thought it was gonna be…” Now I realize I shoulda milked being a kid for all it was worth while I had the chance!

Being an adult can be rough. You gotta put your own band-aid on when you get a scrape. You have to go to work everyday and there isn’t any recess at work. You don’t get to go play outside until its dark and your mom yells to tell you dinner is ready. There is no one to sing you a lullaby before you fall asleep at night. Oh, and you gotta figure out how to fold a fitted sheet…

Without a doubt, childhood was pretty awesome. And I’m sure I’m not the only one who wishes she would have appreciated it just a little bit more while I still was one. But going back to that time isn’t an option (although some sure seem to try). We just have to face the ‘being an adult’ thing as best we can and appreciate it while we are in it, because before you know it, here comes parenthood…and if being an adult is like folding a fitted sheet, parenthood is like…aye, yai, yai…

Learn to appreciate the place you are in and do your best to enjoy it while you are there!
