Dealing with Disappointment

“Don’t let today’s disappointments cast a shadow on tomorrow’s dreams.” ~Unknown

I have to say that I was disappointed to see the Presidential race end with four more years of the same Presidential leadership we have had as it causes me HUGE concerns for the economic future of our country.  I struggle to see how our country can sustain four more years the same problems, and so to me, this loss was a very tough loss indeed.

Even though I am sad about Mitt Romney’s loss, I for one, do not think it is appropriate to trash talk anyone who was chosen to hold the office of “President of the U.S.” – Even if the person who wins the Presidency isn’t the person I voted for, they are still the President of our country, and I believe that we have a duty to show respect for the position, whether or not we respect the individual that holds the position.   Because of this I will refrain from saying any negative comments about the President.  I just pray that the President will recognize the changes that he needs to make in order to lead the country in a better direction, and I pray he will have the courage to actually do the right things.  All Americans should be praying for that.  We desperately need it.

As disappointing as the results of this election were, the results are what they are, and at this point I have to remind myself that we cannot change the past, we can only move forward into the future and do the best we can with the situation as it is.   We need to do the best we can to pull our country together.  It was clear from the way the election votes came out that we are a country strongly divided.  Somehow we need to find ways to remember that we should all have the same end goals in mind of improving our economy, improving our security, and protecting our liberty.  We have to work together if we want things to improve and I really hope we will see that happen more in our countries leaders moving forward.  I personally refuse to lose hope for the future, even if it seems a little bleak right now.  I still believe in America and all that it stands for. I still believe we are meant to be One Nation Under God, even if many people seem to have forgotten that.  We need to do the best we can to support our country coming back together again.  We all need to continue to have hope for the future…

“We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope.” ~Martin Luther King, Jr.

I disagree. The great thing about our county is that we can speak out and criticize our leaders. Our founders didn’t meekly follow the will of the King just because he was the king, and we shouldn’t do it today either, not even for the President. The problem isn’t that the people aren’t speaking out, though; the problem is that the majority agree with Obama and his policies. So be it. I would say that I hope the country wakes up before it’s too late, but I think it is too late now.

My thoughts are very much the same as yours, Amy. I would have liked a different outcome but what is done is done and it is time to move forward and work with what we have.

Regardless of who the president is we still live in an amazing country with amazing freedoms and I’m proud to be an American!

    God Bless the USA!

Amy, When I read this I felt the tears welling up in my eyes. This disappointment feels so overwhelming right now. As I have gone about the day today, it seems as if there is a dark cloud hanging overhead. I hear it in the voices I have been speaking with as I go about my work. Our Country is in distress, and it is very depressing to many. All we can do is pray…and pray hard. Thank you for your inspirational blogs. They help me so much…especially today.

    Amy,

When will the new office be ready? I’m dying to see how it turned out!

    P.S. You’re awesome 🙂

Great post Amy. I hope everyone remembers no one man (women) will solve our countries problems and no one person created all the problems. It will take many people from all walks of life to lead us out of this mess. People like our local clergy, teachers, moms, dads, students, veterans, and so on.

We should never forget WE the people are the solution not one politician. All of us should stop fighting, take personal responsibility for our countries failure, and solve the problems togther. I have yet to meet one Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, and etc. who doesn’t share common goals but disagrees on how to get there. I would encourage anyone who wants the government to change to get involved with their community. Be Empowered not defeated.

I’ve felt this way about many of our leaders in the past, I’m glad I’m not the only one!! Thank You!!

I strongly believe that we should respect everyone, regardless if we disagree with them on politics, relgion, or anything else. We can’t move forward as a country until we respect eachothers differences and learn to work together.

I’ve heard that the President has already contacted Romeny and has been making plans with him. I think the rest of the country would do well to follow their example.

Well, politics in America is slowly becoming politics of creating vote bank. You have one person who favours that people should earn their own livelihood and govt should not be too enthusiastic with spending money on them who can’t earn for themselves. Rather this person supports them who can create more job for them who don’t have jobs so govt doesn’t pay from tax payers’ money in too much social welfare. This person doesn’t support illegal immigration. And you have another person who believes in spending money on them who are not earning for themselves. These people want to live on govt money and this person is spending tax payers’ money to feed them. This person wants to go soft for illegal immigrants. This person also wants to put more tax on them who can create more jobs to feed them who don’t have job. Now in a country where people are slowly getting used to live on govt money, where illegal immigrants are becoming a big consolidated vote bank, who will win??? Of course the later person. I, not being an American, sometime wonder whether the champion of capitalist economy, crusader of free market and the country of the Great American Dream is slowly becoming a socialist country. America is America because people here are fiercely independent, they believe in creating their own success stories with least govt interference. If this character will be lost, it will no longer be same America. The current govt is slowly erasing this character.

Dear Amy, it has been almost two years now and I still can’t believe Mitt Romney is not our President but given the facts I think it’s going to get harder and harder for a Republican to win an election if they only count on the white vote.
