DO IT ANYWAY

There are many poems that I love and that inspire me in my life, but there is one poem that I think has been the most inspiring to me personally and I want to share it with all of you. Plus I can think of no better way to start a new week then with a fantastic, inspiring poem!…

 DO IT ANYWAY – by Mother Teresa

People are often unreasonable,
illogical and self-centered;
Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind,
people may accuse you of selfish ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.
If you are successful,
you will win some false friends and true enemies;
Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank,
people may cheat you;
Be honest anyway.
What you spend years building,
someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness,
they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.
The good you do today,
people will often forget tomorrow
Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have,
and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you’ve got anyway.
You see, in the final analysis,
it is between you and God;
It was never between you and them anyway.

I LOVE THAT POEM. And it has served as such an inspiration for me in my life. It helps me to separate my behavior from the circumstances around me and to take ownership of my own attitude and reactions. It reminds me that I can never justify my own bad behavior by someone else’s actions. It is up to me entirely to be the kind of person that God wants me to be at all times and in all circumstances.

Your challenge today is to really take to heart the words of this poem. Evaluate your own behavior and attitude and determine what things you need to work on in your own life to be able to live by the words of this poem…I have to re-evaluate myself all the time against this poem and it serves as a really good guide to help me to do that.

Have a great day!

~Amy
