“Do or do not. There is no try.” -Yoda

Star Wars is a pretty big deal at our house because our 22 year old son is OBSESSED with it! Like seriously obsessed. He has been collecting the entire Star Wars lego collection for years with one of his life goals being that he wants to reenact episode 1-6 with his Legos….way to dream big… #daltonlifegoal  (Dalton actually added Star Wars things to his Wedding Registry for his upcoming wedding…good thing she knew who he was when she said yes to marrying him). 🙂

So in the spirit of trying to be a supportive Mom who gets into it I have been trying to find Star Wars quotes that have a good life lesson to share and I came across this one from Yoda:

“Do or do not. There is no try.”

Love it! And it is such a great attitude to have in life. We are all going to face obstacles in our lives that can either stop us from moving forward or they can serve as a help to push us to find another way! We can always DO if we choose to. Maybe we can’t always DO the way we wanted or in the manner we hoped for, but nonetheless, we can always DO! So no excuses for doing not!

As much as my son is obsessed with Star Wars, I am equally obsessed with all things Disney (you cannot imagine the combined excitement at our house when Disney took over Star Wars…we think it’s like the best thing since Oreo Cookies and Milk!). So the best analogy I can think of to teach this life lesson is that if I was on my way to Disneyland and the road was closed I sure as heck wouldn’t give up on getting to Disneyland…I would find some other road that would still get me to my destination. Sure, that alternate road may not be as pretty to look at or as smooth of a course or direct of a route, but the important thing is that it will still help me get to Disneyland in the end!

No trying, because we all have the choice to DO if we want to. You now that Yoda is a pretty smart little cookie. I guess Star Wars is pretty cool after all.
