Favorite Moments and Greatest Achievements of 2017

I can hardly believe that 2017 is almost over.  This past year has held some of the happiest moments of life, and truth be told, it has also held many of the saddest moments of my life.  Without a doubt it is a year I will be happy to have come to a close as I am excited to start 2018 with its totally new blank chapter in the book of life that is waiting to be filled with marvelous adventures, the accomplishment of new goals, and many meaningful memories to be made.

I have to say that my favorite moment of 2017 was without a doubt, the birth of my new little Grandson Flynn Dalton Anderson. My grandbaby is the sun moon and stars of life for me and he has brought so much joy into our family. Grandchildren are so magical. They have a way of putting other things in life into proper perspective for you – they are this constant reminder of the things that truly matter and the things that just don’t. They are one of life’s biggest blessings and the day Flynn entered this world in 2017 will forever be one that I will treasure as my favorite day of the year.

As far as achievements go for 2017 I’m still trying to come up with a meaningful list…which tells me I am going to need to do much better in 2018!  But I am happy to say that I have been able to do a lot of service work this last year through my Foundation, I’ve been able to serve the community through several boards I serve on, and I appreciated being inducted into the UTC Hall of Fame as that was an experience I will treasure along with the special video they gave me that can be seen in the article I shared posted here:  A gift to be treasured

Some exciting memories from 2017 include going to Hawaii to visit my little brother in the Air Force and his family, attending the U.S. President’s Inauguration ceremony in Washington DC, planning and hosting the BYU Founders Board trip to Cabo for some amazing friends, going on a trip to Moab with my family to visit my Great Uncle who served in WWII and hearing his stories, my son Dalton graduating from BYU with his Bachelor’s Degree, my summer trips with friends to Lake Powell on our houseboat, going back to Cabo with another group of friends, one of my best friends reaching her five year cancer free mark (love you Carine!), hosting my husbands parents and my mother-in-laws siblings for a family reunion at our home, my big brother Scott coming to stay with us for a visit, my giant remote control swimming shark balloon before it blew away, forming a new National Advisory Board for President Matt Holland for Utah Valley University business school and launching it with the most incredible group of business leaders that I feel blessed to call friends and holding our first official Board Meeting ever, going to Washington DC to visit my brother and sister-in-law, all the speaking engagements I was able to do at the many Universities throughout the state and the amazing students I got to talk to, and last but not least….

On December 31st it will be my 10 year wedding anniversary to my husband Rollin.  10 years! What a milestone! And although you are reading this blog before my anniversary this week I am confident in saying it will be among the special memories of 2017 for me.

I will be back writing my blog again on January 2nd as I take official holidays off from writing. In the meantime I want to wish all of you a safe and fabulous New Year’s Eve and a very Happy New Year ahead.

2018 is going to be EXTRAORDINARY!
