Fireworks, Freedom, Fun and Food. Just four of the reasons I love the Fourth of July!

“You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness. You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism.”  – Erma Bombeck

I intend to show just how patriotic I am by eating a ridiculous amount of potato salad along with my BBQ hamburgers and the rest of the food I plan to eat on the Fourth of July 🙂  …but all that eating is in honor of my love of country…as Erma Bombeck said, its patriotism, and I just want to show that I am a true patriot 🙂

I am so excited to celebrate the Fourth of July with my family and friends tomorrow and I hope all of you have an amazing day with your friends and family as well.  I love everything about the Fourth of July holiday. I love the fireworks, and celebrating our freedom, and having fun while eating great food. I love the patriotic songs that are played, and pledging allegiance to our flag, and the respect paid to all those people who serve their country. I love that we all take a moment to remember just how blessed we are to live in America.

I would be remiss if I didn’t take at least a moment to personally thank all those men and women who won’t be able to be at home with their families this Fourth of July because they have chosen to sacrifice of themselves in order to help protect the very country and its freedoms that we are all celebrating tomorrow.  It is these men and women serving, along with their families waiting back at home for their return, that make this country “America, the land of the free and the home of the brave,” as it is because of their bravery and their sacrifice that all of us get to enjoy the blessing of freedom.  So THANK YOU to all of you who have ever served or who are currently serve and THANK YOU to all of you who support these brave souls as they serve, I am so grateful for your service and for your sacrifice. May God bless you and may God bless America.

Have a fabulous Fourth of July everyone! I normally would skip the night of the 3rd because of the holiday on the fourth but because I want to enjoy the late night fireworks tomorrow I decided to write today instead and then skip tomorrow for the holiday so I will be back posting again on Wednesday July 5th.  Until then, enjoy your fireworks and eat plenty of potato salad 🙂
