Focus on the unique contribution you can offer the world

“The only unique contribution you can offer the world is to be who you actually are and no one else.” – Ashly Lorenzana

Every person is born with individual strengths and talents. Every person brings something unique into this world and each person is able to add something different to this world. And it is all those unique differences we each have coming together that end up making this world amazing.

That is why it is such a shame when someone turns away from their natural gifts and abilities and tries to be something they aren’t. Rather than being happy about their abilities and seeing the incredible contribution their own talents can make, they try to become someone they aren’t, and in the process they leave a gap where their own talents were meant to contribute. Not only that but they end up falling short in their endeavor because it just wasn’t their natural gift, and as a result other people are often affecting negatively.

Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. proclaimed:

“Every person must have a concern for self, and feel a responsibility to discover one’s mission in life. God has given each normal person a capacity to achieve some end. True, some are endowed with more talent than others, but God has left none of us without talent. Potential powers of creativity are within us, and we have a duty to work assiduously to discover these powers.”

Don’t get caught in the trap of comparing yourself with others and then trying to be something you’re not. Be the very best you that you can be. Embrace your God given talents and gifts and focus on improving those to be the best they can be, and in doing so you will become the very best of who you are meant to be.

Have a great start to the week everyone!

I enjoy your posts every day. Comparison is the opposite of contentment. If you want to be content in who you are or what you have, stop comparing. At least that’s how I look at it.
