For the last two days I was invited to be part of a special project in which I was introduced to 28 strangers who came from incredibly different backgrounds and who had incredibly different personalities. This particular group of people would likely never have crossed paths with one another in the course of normal life but we were put into a circumstance where we had to work together to accomplish something and we only had two days to do it. Those circumstances forced us to quickly let our walls down and start getting to know one another. We needed to learn about each other’s backgrounds and experience in order for the project to work so there was no time to be shy. Everyone had to be willing to put themselves out there and they did just that. And I dare say, the result was amazing.
The last two days have been such a reminder to me of the fact that no matter how different we are on the outside, and no matter what different circumstances we all come from, there is so much value that comes into our lives when we really get to know each other!
The friendships that I formed with these people in just two days are nothing short of incredible! I feel like this group is friends I have known for years. We laughed together, we struggled together, we shared stories of our lives with one another, and we truly became a sort of a family…they have forever blessed my life because they came into it.
“Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born.” – Anais Nin
A new world was born for me today because of these 28 strangers who are now my friends…and my life will forever be different because of them. What a great reminder that you never know what your next best friend will look like or where they will come from, so never shut anyone out!
Have a great day!
