Get Ready For Father’s Day – a public service reminder

Sunday it will be Father’s Day and so as a public service I thought it would be good for me to remind everyone who has a Father themselves, as well as any Wives who have a Husband of children to GET ON TOP OF IT PEOPLE!! Don’t forget to prepare something to honor those Fathers!!!

As a wife I seriously stress over what to get my husband for Father’s Day. It’s hard to find the perfect gift to say thank you for being such a great Father! Back before I sold my company we would do a newsletter to our customers that had absolutely nothing to do with business topics and instead we would give them fun ideas and tips and recipes and things that would help their lives in general. For important holidays and events we would send out gift giving ideas to help people figure out the perfect gift to give. I found a copy of a list of Father’s Day gift giving ideas that I thought would be perfect to share with all of you who are still trying to figure out what you can get your guy. Here’s the list:

Honey-Do Free Zone: Let’s face it, every now and then, the man in your life needs an opportunity to get out and enjoy a guilt-free round of golf, day with the guys, hunting trip, etc. Give your guy a hall pass to spend a weekend day doing whatever he wants without having to worry about that honey-do list.

Golf Stuff: If the man in your life is into golf, nothing says “I love you” quite like a gift basket or bag packed with golf goodies. Toss in some golf balls, tees, a new glove or towel, and maybe a punch pass or a pre-paid round to his favorite course. Make a father’s day tee time to combine this idea with the first one on our list and watch him really light up!

Tools:  What guy doesn’t love tools? Check out his tool box to see what he’s missing. Maybe he needs a new cordless drill, a laser level, a set of wrenches or ratchets, a nail gun, a heavy-duty flashlight, a hammer drill or a power sander.

Tech Gadgets: Like an Apple TV for $99—-it connects all of your Apple devices, iTunes store, movies, shows, Netflix to your TV wirelessly.

Sporting Events Tickets: If you’ve got a sports fan in the house, check out your local venues and grab a set of tickets to watch his favorite team play live.

Grilling Goods: The guys who feels at home behind the grill gets attached to his cooking utensils—-but he might be in need of some new ones. Check out a new grilling set; or consider expanding his kitchen gadgets with a grilling basket, some cedar planks and chips or a wing rack.

$1 Shave Club: Have you seen this program? It’s kind of like Netflix, but for shaving! The cost of razor cartridges is ridiculous and few things are worse than reaching for a fresh blade and finding you’re out. Sign your guy up for the $1 Shave Club and solve both problems at the same time. This fun site offers monthly razor delivery service at a fraction of the price you’ll pay in stores! www.dollarshaveclub.com

Oh and I can’t leave out the grilling recipe tip  we gave our clients for Father’s Day:

Grilling Tip

We love summer cooking-nothing is quite as nice as being able to whip up a delicious meal on the grill in no time (without the kitchen mess). If you’ve been feeling a little bored with the same old seasoning, try a fresh approach this weekend and change-up the flavor of your cookout with this easy 30-minute citrus marinade. It’s perfect for poultry or seafood:

Key West Marinade

3 tablespoons soy sauce

2 tablespoons fresh Lime Juice

1 tablespoon minced garlic

¼ cup extra virgin olive oil

Combine ingredients in a Ziploc bag, add chicken, shrimp, pork or fish and allow to marinade for at least 30 minutes (longer for bolder flavor). Toss on the grill and enjoy!

Hope that helps you all get prepared to honor the Fathers we all love so much.  Have a great weekend everyone!

Great idea! Thanks for the ideas. Here’s the funny thing – I keep hearing the words dollar shave club and wondered what on earth it means. Now I know!
