How We’d Like To Be Remembered

In speaking of how he’d like to be remembered in life after he’s gone, Muhammad Ali said:

“I’d like for them to say he took a few cups of love, he took one tablespoon of patience, one teaspoon of generosity, one pint of kindness. He took one quart of laughter, one pinch of concern, and then, he mixed willingness with happiness. He added lots of faith and he stirred it up well. Then, he spread it over a span of a lifetime and he served it to each and every deserving person he met.”

When we consider how we want to be remembered would we say we are measuring up so far?  If we were to suddenly be gone tomorrow would those left behind be able to say the things about us we’d hoped they could?

It never hurts to stop and take stock of how we are measuring up against the way we’d like to be remembered. Score yourself against that metric and issue yourself a mid-term report card of your grade…keep in mind there is no grading on the curve here, there is no telling yourself that you know people who do way worse than you and therefore your low grade isn’t so bad … this is an exercise of grading yourself today against that ideal self you hope to be remembered as…give yourself your grade and even make a few notes on your report card suggesting how you can improve your grade next semester. No having a “C’s get degrees” mentality – it’s an A+ or bust!

Have a great day everyone!

Wow Amy, that blog really makes me stop and think and evaluate my life. Now I have to really dig deep and personally come up with that grade and take notes on how I can improve. Thank you!
