If You Could Do Anything…

If you could do anything you wanted with your life, what would you do?  Have you ever asked yourself that question?  Just for a minute take away all restrictions or limitations that typically exist and the barriers that scare you or deter you.  Take away all worries of being able to fulfill your financial obligations that exist and all worries about putting food on the table and covering the basic needs of life.  Put all those things aside for just a minute and ask yourself the question, “If I could do anything…anything at all with my life…what would I do?

I have to say that it is a fascinating exercise to go through.  To ask yourself that question once you have put all worries and hesitations out of your mind.  When you have made anything and everything an actual option on the table to choose from.  Try it.  If you are at all like me, you will find that it is a little bit overwhelming to allow yourself to consider absolutely everything and anything…yet, it is exciting and intimidating all at the same time….most of all, it is a fantastic way to get your mind going a million miles an hour…it is a fantastic way to start to truly brainstorm things that you otherwise might overlook.  And it starts to make you hyper aware of the opportunities that exist around you in life right now, which helps to motivate you and energize you as you start to formulate a vision for the future ahead.

I decided to do this exercise for myself today.  As we are heading into this new year ahead – this EPIC new year ahead (for those who read yesterday’s blog) – I have decided that I need to open my mind up to the possibility of ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING so that I can begin to form a vision of all that I want to accomplish in these next few years of my life.

My goals for 2014 are very detailed for first 9 months of this year – I will be finishing up the building of my new home and getting moved in (which is a huge undertaking, more so than I ever imagined it would be), at the same time I am preparing for my daughter to graduate and getting her prepared for college, and I am preparing everything for my son to return home from his mission (yay!), and I am preparing a summer full of exciting adventures with my two children for a last hurrah before they both leave home to go to college in the fall.  But then what???  I realized that I have been working so hard to accomplish everything I need to in order to get through the next 9 months that I haven’t allowed my head to go beyond that point.  I haven’t allowed myself to think ahead to life after the kids are gone…what do I want to do then??

So today I am opening my thinking up to the field of all possibilities and I am super excited to see where that takes me…and I would love it if all of you started opening up the field of all possibilities in your own lives too!  It is so much more fun if we all do it 🙂  So start by asking the question, “If I could do anything….”

Have an AMAZING day!

Amy
