If You Have Purpose You Don’t Have To Be Pushed, Your Passion Will Drive You There

“If you have a strong purpose in life, you don’t have to be pushed. Your passion will drive you there.” – Roy Bennett

I’d only been asleep for three hours when my alarm went off at 4am this morning. I had an early morning flight I needed to get up and ready for so I could fly down to southern Utah in order to give the keynote speech at a business conference.  With all the craziness that has been going on in my life the last few weeks of caring for an injured father-in-law, having a new grandbaby, hosting a wedding reception, and dealing with technical problems with my webhosting service, one might wonder why in the world I would be getting out of bed after three hours sleep to fly down to speak at a conference?  The answer to that question boils down to a single word:  Purpose.

My purpose in life is to help others to excel. And having that purpose drives me. It drives me to get myself out of bed when I’ve had only three hours sleep so I can go present at a conference.  It drives me to sit down at my laptop each night and write a blog about what I’ve learned that day. It drove me to write the book  “What Awesome Looks Like: How To Excel in Business & Life”. Purpose drives me to pick myself whenever I’m down, it helps me to stand back up any time I fall, and it gives me the passion to never give up.

I didn’t have to be pushed to get out of bed today…my passion drove me to do it…and I’m so grateful that it did because I had an amazing time with the people at the conference and I was able to share things that can help others to excel.

“If you have a pulse, you have a purpose.” –Rich Wilkerson, Jr.

We each have a purpose in life. Each of us have been through unique life experiences that are meant to somehow help others. When you figure out how to use your experiences to benefit the lives of others you will never lack for passion again.
