For my birthday last Friday a group of friends took me down to Las Vegas in a private jet to go to a VIP meeting with the Imagine Dragons and then to hear the Imagine Dragons perform an acoustic concert for the Tyler Robinson Foundation Gala (the foundation raises money for the families dealing with pediatric cancer) followed by going to the NASCAR playoff races the next day. And as ridiculously generous as all of that was already – they also showed up to the flight with balloons, a birthday cake, candles, cards, chocolates, a tiara, and party horns so they could all sing to me and eat cake on the plane. Then when we landed in Vegas they got a big van so we could all ride together to one of the couple’s guest house they had gotten ready for our group to stay in. They thought through every little detail of the weekend – from having warm bagels and fruit ready for my breakfast in the morning to making sure the Robinson family knew it was my birthday when I arrived to the Gala (and the Robinsons were so sweet and they greeted me with a birthday card and a gift which was so thoughtful), to even bringing me cold lemonade during NASCAR…they made sure my weekend was filled with the sweetest gestures at every turn. I was already humbled by their generosity of taking me on this trip, but what touched me so deeply was all of the thought each of the couples had put into making me feel so incredibly special on my birthday! I feel unbelievably blessed to be surrounded by such thoughtful people. And I hope I always remember to follow in their example and make others feel as special as they made me feel.
Here are a few fun pictures from the weekend and I am including a video of one of the Imagine Dragons songs they sang at the event – this one was my favorite of the night! (may have to flip phones sideways to see full pictures):
They brought me a birthday cake and a tiara on the plane
All that amazing fun over the weekend and I was able to fly home to my amazing children who cooked me a birthday dinner Sunday night and then each of them shared their favorite memories they’d had about me from this last year. It brought me to tears. I have the most amazing family and the most amazing friends and I feel so incredibly blessed to be loved by them.
May you all have the BEST DAY!!!
