In Memory of A Great Motivator

Those of you who know me know that I am a huge fan of great motivational speakers and I rely on their quotes and words to help inspire me on the days when I find myself getting down.  Zig Ziglar is one of those great motivators who spent the bulk of his life lifting others up with his motivational words.  Zig Ziglar, sadly, passed away yesterday from pneumonia.  His inspirational example and words will be with us forever and I am truly grateful for the incredible impact he has had on my life through his speeches, his audio talks, his books and his quotes.  In his memory I wanted to share some of my favorite quotes of Zig Ziglar that have lifted me up in my life.  If you have others to add to the list of favorites please post them in the comments of today’s blog. You can never have too many uplifting quotes :):

“A lot of people have gone further than they thought they could because someone else thought they could”

“Success is the doing, not the getting; in the trying, not the triumph. Success is a personal standard, reaching for the highest that is in us, becoming all that we can be. If we do our best, we are a success.”

“If you go out looking for friends, you’re going to find they are very scarce. If you go out to be a friend, you’ll find them everywhere.”

“You can have everything in life that you want if you just give enough other people what they want.”

“Make today worth remembering.”

“You never know when a moment and a few sincere words can have an impact on a life.”

“There are no traffic jams on the extra mile.”

“The greatest of all mistakes is to do nothing because you think you can only do a little.”

“Of course motivation is not permanent. But then, neither is bathing; but it is something you should do on a regular basis.”

“Many marriages would be better if the husband and wife clearly understood that they’re on the same side. ”

“The chief cause of failure and unhappiness is trading what you want most for what you want right now”

“There has never been a statue erected to honor a critic.”

“You cannot consistently perform in a manner which is inconsistent with the way you see yourself.”

“Some of us learn from other people’s mistakes and the rest of us have to be other people.”

“The more you are grateful for what you have the more you will have to be grateful for”

“When obstacles arise, you change your direction to reach your goal; you do not change your decision to get there.”

“You are what you are and you are where you are because of what has gone into your mind. You change what you are and you change where you are by changing what goes into your mind.”

“You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great”

All amazing quotes from Zig Ziglar.  We would all do well to live by his wise words.  I hope all of you have an amazing Friday and a FABULOUS weekend!

Love, Amy

That’s absolutely great Amy. Thank you for the article. His legacy will be the inspiration for all of us.

    One of my favourites:
“People often say motivation doesn’t last. Neither does bathing—that’s why we recommend it daily.”

    Best,

Amy, thank you for this remembrance of Zig. I once worked for a coaching company that represented Zig and had the opportunity of meeting him when he came to our offices in Salt Lake City. Like you, I’ve read the books and still have the old tapes. I updated my personal development library with cds and DVDs of Zig as well. Zig taught us by word and example that anything is possible and how important our attitude is to our success in life. Success is what he preached, that every individual was born with all it takes to succeed and if we help each other along the way, everyone can succeed. When I coach and speak on related subjects I can hear him in my mind and I bet you can too. A true American icon and worthy of your tribute.
