Each Thanksgiving we go around the dinner table and share what we are grateful for that year. It is a tradition we never miss doing. And every year in the back of my mind there is something I am truly grateful for on Thanksgiving, but I’m always too embarrassed to say it out loud, but this year I am going to own it…this year I say “Thank Heaven for Stretchy Pants!!!” I couldn’t survive Thanksgiving dinner without them!
A few years ago I shared a Thanksgiving poem that I love so much I just had to share it again because it totally supports my appreciation of stretchy pants. It’s called T’was The Night of Thanksgiving:
T’was the night of Thanksgiving,
But I just couldn’t sleep.
I tried counting backwards,
I tried counting sheep.
The leftovers beckoned,
The dark meat and white.
But I fought the temptation,
With all of my might.
Tossing and turning,
with anticipation.
The thought of a snack
became infatuation.
So I raced to the kitchen,
Flung open the door,
And gazed at the fridge,
Full of goodies galore.
I gobbled up turkey,
And buttered potatoes,
Pickles and carrots,
Beans and tomatoes.
I felt myself swelling,
So plump and so round.
‘til all of a sudden,
I rose off the ground.
I crashed through the ceiling,
Floating into the sky,
With a mouthful of pudding,
And a handful of pie.
But I managed to yell
As I soared past the trees
Happy eating to all,
Pass the cranberries, please!!
May your stuffing be tasty
May your turkey be plump.
May your potatoes and gravy
Have nary a lump.
May your yams be delicious,
May your pies take the prize
And May your Thanksgiving dinner
Stay off of your thighs!

To all of you I say “HAPPY THANKGIVING!” May your holiday be full of loving family and friends, and incredibly delicious food, and a really, really comfortable pair of stretchy pants!
I will be back to post on Sunday night as I take the holiday off from writing my blog so I can focus on my family. Have a great holiday everyone!
