It’s Time To Go in Search Of New Cheese!

Where to begin….back in March when the entire world changed in what seemed like an instant it caused all of us to relook at everything we had going on in our lives and really question what things we should keep in our lives, what things should be gotten rid of, what changes ought to be made to address how life will be going forward…  At first it was easy to put off answering those questions because we thought the shutdown would pass quickly and life would return to normal again. But the longer and longer things dragged on the more apparent its become that we need to all be thinking through answers to those questions and then start to act on those answers.

For months I tried to avoid making changes because I didn’t want to accept that things in life really are different now, not just for a week or a month, but forever.  Then about a month ago I finally started to realize that I could either stay stuck in place waiting for someone to give back our cheese that got moved (life pre-pandemic) or I could set out in search of new cheese (if you haven’t read the book Who Moved My Cheese – READ IT – its one of my favorite books of all time and it has helped me so much in my life!!!).

If you are wondering how to find new cheese here’s how you do it:  You’ve first got to accept the fact that life is now different and no amount of whining or avoiding making decisions is going to change that. Then you’ve got to ask yourself what things to keep in your life, what things to get rid of, and what changes you ought to make. Finally, you’ve got to start making decisions and act on them.  And while its feels intimidating and scary to make decisions and act on them when the path ahead isn’t well lit, with every decision you make and every step forward you take your confidence and courage will begin to grow.

Over the past few weeks I’ve made some really big decisions that I’m taking action on and it’s both terrifying and exciting at the same time.  I’ll share more details about those decisions I’ve made in next weeks blogs.  In the meantime…you gotta read the book Who Moved My Cheese by Spencer Johnson…it’s a super quick read with big print and pictures and honestly it will change your life…it will definitely motivate you to go in search of new cheese!
