“We didn’t realize we were making memories, we just knew we were having fun.”
This summer has been such a special time for me. I have been able to have so much fun with my children and the memories we will walk away from this summer with will be with me forever. The most interesting thing about this summer has been that it isn’t the places we went to visit or the shows we saw or the hotels we stayed in that will be the memories of this summer. It is the little moments when we laughed out loud at something one of us said, and the moments we teased each other during a competitive card game we were playing, and the hugs we shared, and the conversations we had, and the late nights snuggling as we watched a movie together. The memories don’t come as a result of the money spent or the elaborate surroundings…the memories come as a result of the time spent together doing anything at all…that’s what drives the memories.
And those happy memories you make will be with you forever, and when life gets tough in the future it will be those little happy memories that pop back into your mind and help you smile and get through those crazy tough times.
As we head into this weekend, decide to make a few new memories with the people you love. Remember, it doesn’t have to be fancy, it just has to be fun!

I agree with you Amy, it’s not about the things we do to have fun and spend time together with our loved ones, it’s about appreciating every moment; the happy faces, the words of appreciation and simply noticing and embracing the things that seem to be small.
