I believe our life should be lived by a pattern of setting goals and then achieving them. I am absolutely passionate about goals because every success I have achieved in life has been as the result of setting a goal and then working hard to achieve it.
When we simply live our lives day to day without setting specific goals and working to achieve them we will wake up one day and find that our entire life has passed us by and we haven’t lived up to the potential we have.
I love the words of M. Russell Ballard when he said: “I am so thoroughly convinced that if we don’t set goals in our life and learn how to master the techniques of living to reach our goals, we can reach a ripe old age and look back on our life only to see that we reached but a small part of our full potential. When one learns to master the principles of setting a goal, he will then be able to make a great difference in the results he attains in this life.”
We can’t live life thinking…someday I will…we need to be ready to go for it NOW! If we want a life of amazing results then we have to be courageous enough to set amazing goals! As we sit down to set our goals for the upcoming year we need to THINK BIG! We can’t let fear get in the way of setting a goal for the things we truly want. We have to have an open mind and be willing to write down our biggest dreams for the year of what we want to achieve. Ask yourself, “What would I want if I wasn’t afraid?” Then set goals that will help you get that! Nothing is off the table. The sky is the limit.
The New Year is going to be upon us in no time. Now is a great time to set new goals for your life and especially for 2016. Carve time out of this week to write your goals down. Writing them down makes a massive difference on your ability to achieve them, so it’s important to make time to write them down. You can even take it a step further by cutting out pictures of what you want to accomplish and putting them on a Goal Poster like I do (or for those of you who are more technical you can capture digital images and make a digital Goal Poster).
Don’t delay. Make this a priority this week. What you write down this week is going to shape your entire upcoming year so take it seriously!
