Remember – You’re On The Same Team

A few years ago we were playing games with several couples. One of the people playing the game got really frustrated when someone on their same team did something that caused them to lose their points.  In a fit of frustration this person yelled a reminder to the other player, “We are on the SAME TEAM!!!”   We all laughed at the reaction, but we all agreed with the sentiment – when someone is on your same team you are supposed to be doing everything you can help each other succeed and win.

Zig Ziglar once said:   “Many marriages would be better if the husband and wife clearly understood that they’re on the same side.”

When we remember as a couple that we are supposed to be on the same team we will treat each other better, we will give each other the benefit of the doubt, and we will do everything in our power to help the other person succeed at all times.  Because being on the same team means that I can only win if you win, because a team wins as a unit, not as individuals. It’s impossible for one member of the team to win and one lose – as teammates your fates are aligned.

Our spouses are our teammate for life. We have to work together if we are going to win. We have to be loyal to one another, encourage one another, forgive one another, and help one another to be the best we can possibly be.  We have to work together if we are ever going to win at life.

Love your spouse wholeheartedly and remember you are on the SAME TEAM!
