“Sometimes the most ordinary things could be made extraordinary…”

“Sometimes the most ordinary things could be made extraordinary, simply by doing them with the right people.”  -Elizabeth Green

How true that quote is!  Today was another rough day for me…sick again…arghhhh….not fun.  I woke up thinking if I jumped in the shower that it would somehow magically make me feel all better today…nice try, but didn’t work.  There was no question  but that I was going to have to spend yet another day lying on my couch trying to get better (I had to move out of the bed before I went stir crazy!).  It was so frustrating to still be sick.  I was lying on the couch feeling all sorry for myself until my son Dalton came down to hang out and talk to me (with the little voice I have left which sounds horrible to listen to, poor kid).  We didn’t talk about anything big or important, we just talked about ordinary things.  He even got me to laugh a time or two because let’s face it, the kid is hilarious.  And that very ordinary thing of just having a conversation with him turned a miserable time into an extraordinary time just because I was able to spend that quality time with my son today.  Sure I wish I wouldn’t have been sicker than a dog while doing it, but nonetheless, having that time with him made today a good one even with the yucky circumstances.

And so the opening quote of today’s blog is correct.  When you do things with the right people in life it makes everything awesome.  It just does.  You can be doing the lamest task in the ickiest place and it can still be an awesome experience if you do it with the right people.  I believe that the overall quality of our lives comes down very much to the people we spend our time with – the people we surround ourselves by every single day.  If we choose good people to be in our lives we will have a good life.  If we surround ourselves with people who are great, our lives will be great.

It has been said that we become like the 5 people we spend the most time with…I figure that with my husband Rollin, my son Dalton and my daughter Ashley, my first 3 of the 5 are about as good as it gets!  I feel very blessed to have those three in my life and they make every day I spend with them extraordinary.

Here is to spending your time with those people who make you the GREATEST!  And hopefully here is to me hopefully feeling better tomorrow because I am running out of places to move my pillow to 🙂
