Summer is almost over so make the most of the next few weeks!

“Time flies whether you’re having fun or not. The choice is yours.” – unknown

This summer is flying by!  It’s hard to believe we are about to start the month of August already and school will be starting again in a few short weeks.  It definitely feels like this summer is going by way too fast! So today I just want to remind everyone that we all need to enjoy every moment left of this summer before it’s gone!!!

It seems weird to even suggest that summer is almost gone this year because I feel like I haven’t been able to really relish it yet with any lazy days lying out at my swimming pool in the backyard. We have been traveling almost every week since June started, jumping from one trip to the next without much down time in between. But as crazy as it has been so far this summer, we have made fantastic memories with many amazing people. And as much work as it has been to host so many trips, we have definitely had some incredibly fabulous fun as well.

I love that quote:  “Time flies whether you’re having fun or not. The choice is yours.” because it reminds me not to let time go by without choosing to have fun with it.  I think it’s really easy to get caught up in the “doing” to the point that we aren’t actually “enjoying”, and the only way to prevent that from happening is to make a conscious choice that we are going to make sure we are having fun with whatever we are doing.

When we make the decision to be having fun with whatever we do we end up making things more fun for everyone else around us as well. In a way it’s as if you having fun is serving as a reminder for everyone else to have fun right along with you…so really you are doing a public service for everyone when you choose to have fun!

The month of August is going to fly by whether we decide to have fun with it or not…so I say we all decide now that we are going to have FUN with everything we do in August!

Have a fabulously FUN day everyone!

Great post Amy! A wise friend of mine once said, “Life is like a roll of toilet paper… the closer you get to the end, the faster it runs out.”

I can’t believe how quickly time flies and especially how quickly it flies as an entrepreneur. It’s almost been 5 years since I started my first company (marketing agency) but it seems like it was just yesterday.

The first place I saw your quote was on a Mary Englebright calendar. I’m not sure she claimed to have said it first though. But know it’s true. My own quote that reminds me to straighten up and fly right is, Mind your moments because they become your memories. I can see that you do that. enJOY shine of summer.

I just turned 50 this summer and a few weeks before my birthday, I decided that cultivating play will be a top priority for the rest of my life. (I have been guilty of being overly responsible for nearly all of that time.)

We have also gone from one trip to the next to the next all summer and while it was going on, I thought, I’ll get some serious work done in August. But I just can’t bring myself back to that drudgery. So I love this validation. Thank you!!!! (We literally came home from New York and then I went shopping for an RV within two days because I couldn’t see an August in front of me without a way to gather my people up and do more playing.)
