This Ain’t My First Rodeo

Tonight definitely wasn’t my first rodeo, but it was my grandbaby’s first rodeo and it was so much fun to be able to watch him as he watched his first rodeo. He was totally smitten watching all the cowboys ride their horses and the bulls.

I personally love rodeos. I’ve been going to them for years and I love it every time.  I am always in absolute awe at the courage of those cowboys.  And I am especially in awe of the courage of those rodeo clowns who put themselves in harm’s way to make sure the rest of the cowboys stay safe after they’ve been bucked off the bulls. Watching their faces you can see that they are afraid of those bulls (as they should be), but they all still get right in there and do their jobs anyway.

“Courage is being scared to death – and saddling up anyway.” – John Wayne

We all get scared, even the roughest, toughest cowboys get scared…but we can’t let our fears stop us. But if we want to get ahead in life we gotta feel the fear and saddle up anyway!  And the more times we do the things that scare us, the more we can know that “this ain’t my first rodeo”, the more courage we will feel and the stronger we will become.

Before I head to bed, here are a few fun pics from tonight’s rodeo (you may need to turn your phone sideways to see the whole pics):
