A little retail therapy is sometimes exactly what is needed when the husband goes hiking with the boy scouts and the wife and daughter are left alone for a day. Today Ashley and I had a fabulous girls day together. Now don’t get me wrong, we love spending time with my husband too, but every now and then you need a “Girl’s Day” to shop at the mall without your husband there to constantly be asking:
“Are we almost done, yet?”
“Do we really have to go to that store too? It looks just like the last store we were in.”
“Don’t you already have a shirt that looks just like that?”
“I thought we were just coming to get one thing, so why are we still walking around?”
“Did you see the price tag on those shoes? Who in their right mind would spend that much on a pair of shoes?!?”
“Have you seen how many shoes you already have in your closet?? We need to be getting rid of shoes, not buying new ones!”
No offense to the husbands out there, but the answers are always going to be:
“No.” “Yes.” “No.” “ Because I might see something else I want.” “I would, that’s who.” “I will not even honor that question with an answer, but know this – a woman can NEVER have too many pairs of shoes!”
Yes, it is quite nice to have a “Girls Only” day once in a while. Just like I am quite sure that my husband has enjoyed having a “Men Only” trip to hike a mountain, light a few things on fire, and not have any women around telling him what to do or criticizing the way the men are rubbing those sticks together to make a fire without matches when they could easily use a lighter to do it instead.
No question it is one of the wonders of this world that men and women end up coming together to get married and live happily ever after when we are so completely different in so many ways. And yet there is nothing quite as wonderful as falling in love with a man you will spend your life after marriage trying to change, and he will spend his life after marriage wishing that you wouldn’t have changed! Ah yes, the joy of true love 🙂
I can’t wait to see my honey again, but I have to sign off now so I can hurry and rip the tags off my new close and shred the receipts before he gets home! After all that’s the first rule of Girls Club – never leave shopping evidence in the open 🙂
Have a great weekend everyone!
