You Can Love Donald Trump Or You Can Hate Him But You Can't Deny He's Made Politics Interesting Again

This article is more than 8 years old.

You can love Donald Trump, or you can hate Donald Trump, but what you cannot deny is the fact that Donald Trump has managed to make politics interesting again. I normally cannot stand watching Presidential debates because I always end up feeling I’ve just heard a bunch of politically correct answers that use a whole lot of words but don’t really say much of anything. It is disheartening, frustrating, and typically makes one want to avoid the whole thing. But tonight was different. Tonight I couldn’t wait for the Presidential debate to begin. Why? Because I could not wait to see what Donald Trump was going to say! Admittedly part of that was for the pure entertainment factor he provides, but regardless of the reason, Donald Trump has managed to make politics interesting and exciting again and that, and that alone, should win that man a medal.

Yes, Donald Trump is bold and blunt and at times he can say things that are completely inappropriate and very much offensive, but Donald Trump is NEVER boring. He grabs your interest and he makes you listen and think about issues that you otherwise might not have because he brings them up in such a direct, pull no punches style. And with the feelings of apathy toward voting and politics that have consistently grown in this country I think his involvement in this race is exactly what is needed to get people interested and listening to important issues we are facing. His polarizing personality makes you either applaud and support him, or it makes you want to fight back against him…but in both cases he gets you to care, and that is something our country desperately needs ALL of us to do.

As I watched the debate tonight there were several things I noticed that I would have to attribute to Donald Trump’s involvement in this Presidential Race. Some of them were:

*Donald Trump's refusal to be politically correct has completely changed the political conversations being had.

*Donald Trump is forcing several topics that no one wants to talk about right to the surface to be addressed.

*Donald Trump’s no nonsense way of saying exactly what he thinks seems to be causing the other candidates to get a whole lot more direct with their words as well.

Let me clear in saying that I am not writing this article as an endorsement to vote for Donald Trump because the fact is that I have not, in any way, made any decision as to who I am going to vote for in this election yet. But voting aside, I felt credit needed to be given where credit is due, and without a doubt, Donald Trump gets credit for making many of us want to tune in to the presidential debates and get interested in politics again. So here’s to you, Donald!
