{"id":10285,"date":"2018-11-29T17:30:56","date_gmt":"2018-11-29T23:30:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.amyreesanderson.com\/blog\/?p=10285"},"modified":"2018-11-28T23:16:42","modified_gmt":"2018-11-29T05:16:42","slug":"join-the-lighttheworld-day-of-service","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.amyreesanderson.com\/blog\/join-the-lighttheworld-day-of-service\/","title":{"rendered":"Join the #LightTheWorld Day of Service"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>December 1st is #LightTheWorld Day of Service!\u00a0 That day kicks off week 1 of the #LightTheWorld campaign.\u00a0 Over 300,000 people worldwide have already opted in to join the campaign this year and the number is going up in droves each day!\u00a0 The campaign goes throughout the month of December and its purpose is to encourage everyone to &#8220;Give as He Gave&#8221; in reference to following the example of Jesus Christ, the light of the world, in doing good deeds and serving others.\u00a0 To help make your service more personal, people are encouraged to turn their focus from &#8220;how can I serve?&#8221; to &#8220;whom can I serve?&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Each week will have a different theme with suggested activities to do that week:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-weight: bold;\">Week 1 theme:\u00a0 Light the World and give as Jesus gave<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 90px;\">Activity:\u00a0 Serve those in need around the world<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-weight: bold;\">Week 2 theme:\u00a0 Light Your Community<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 90px;\">Activity: Serve within your community (www.justserve.org lists service projects in specific communities where available)<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-weight: bold;\">Week 3 theme:\u00a0 Light Your Family<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 90px;\">Activity:\u00a0 Show your love and appreciation within your family<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-weight: bold;\">Week 4 theme:\u00a0 Light your Faith<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 90px;\">Activity:\u00a0 Find ways to increase your faith in Jesus Christ<\/p>\n<p>As you do acts of service you are encouraged to post them on social media with the hashtag #LightTheWorld<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m super excited to join in on this campaign.
