{"id":11629,"date":"2019-09-11T16:00:29","date_gmt":"2019-09-11T22:00:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.amyreesanderson.com\/blog\/?p=11629"},"modified":"2019-09-11T00:45:50","modified_gmt":"2019-09-11T06:45:50","slug":"remember-when-you-were-a-kid-and-you-thought-being-an-adult-would-be-fun","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.amyreesanderson.com\/blog\/remember-when-you-were-a-kid-and-you-thought-being-an-adult-would-be-fun\/","title":{"rendered":"Remember when you were a kid and you thought being an adult would be fun?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p style=\"text-align:center\" class=\"has-text-color has-vivid-red-color\">Remember when you\nwere a kid and you thought being an adult would be fun?&nbsp; HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA LOL<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That quote literally made me laugh out loud when I read it because it\u2019s so hysterically yet painfully true!\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As little kids we couldn\u2019t wait to grow up\u2026to be old enough to \u201cdo whatever we want\u201d, and stay up late, and go to all the parties\u00a0\u00a0 Then we get to be an adult and realize we rarely get to do what we want with all our adult responsibilities, we wish we could go to bed early, and we wish we didn&#8217;t have to attend so many parties\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I can\u2019t believe I\u2019m going to be turning 48 years old this coming Saturday\u2026.48!!! Why does it have to sound SO OLD when I say it??! \u00a0And it only feels older when I remember that I\u2019m a Grandma with two grandkids already and then I&#8217;m like, &#8220;My gosh I\u2019m not just an adult, I\u2019m a grandma adult!!!&#8221;\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align:center\" class=\"has-text-color has-vivid-red-color\">\u201cThat horrifying moment when you\u2019re looking for an adult, but you realize you are an adult.  So you look around for an older adult. An adultier adult. Someone better at adulting than you.\u201d  -unknown<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yeah\u2026that\u2019s pretty much me today. I\u2019m having that horrifying moment when I\u2019m looking around for an adult but realizing I am the adult.  However, I refuse to be an adultier adult just yet &#8211; that will have to wait until I turn 50 which means I\u2019ve still got two good years left to be just an adult \u2013 so YIPEEE for that!!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let&#8217;s be honest, it\u2019s not that hard to find people that are better at adulting than me.\u00a0 I can\u2019t sit still in meetings now any better than I did as a little kid.\u00a0 I can\u2019t wait my turn in line any more patiently than I used to when I was young.\u00a0 I still go nuts over all things Disney just as much or even more now than I did growing up. And I still sneak around looking to see what present might be hidden away in advance of my birthday the same way I did when I was little, and either my husband is a much better present hider than my parents used to be, or someone had better get shopping for his wife before Saturday gets here \u201cwink wink\u201d which is really code for \u201chint hint honey\u201d)&#8230;tee hee.   But truth be told, I&#8217;m glad there is still a little bit of kid left inside me and I hope it stays that way no matter how many years old I am.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kids don\u2019t be in such a hurry to become an adult before you have to\u2026.and adults try and keep your kid-like spirit as long as you can!
