{"id":11846,"date":"2019-11-06T17:30:11","date_gmt":"2019-11-06T23:30:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.amyreesanderson.com\/blog\/?p=11846"},"modified":"2019-11-05T22:50:24","modified_gmt":"2019-11-06T04:50:24","slug":"never-take-anything-for-granted","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.amyreesanderson.com\/blog\/never-take-anything-for-granted\/","title":{"rendered":"Never Take Anything For Granted"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>As I was leaving work on a Wednesday night back in October of\n2011, I received a phone call that my mother had slipped and fallen down in the\nrain and she was being taken by ambulance to the hospital.&nbsp; She had broken\nher femur and her hip and was going to be taken into emergency surgery.&nbsp;\nThursday she spent almost seven hours in surgery having her entire hip\nreplaced.&nbsp; She came out of surgery late that night and they put her\ndirectly into the cardiology unit of the hospital because during the surgery\nshe was having heart palpitations and the doctors were concerned about her\nheart.&nbsp; As I sat with her that night holding her hand in the hospital room\nas she tried to wake up from the anesthesia I was flooded with the feeling that\nwe should never take things in life for granted.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Never take the people you love for granted.&nbsp; Never take the\ntime you have to spend with those people for granted.&nbsp; Never take your\nhealth for granted.&nbsp; Never take the people you love\u2019s health for\ngranted.&nbsp; Never take this life and the time we have in this life for\ngranted.&nbsp; Life can change in a moment.&nbsp; Things can be taken away from\nus in a moment, whether its money or things, or your health, or the people we\nlove.&nbsp; All of it can be taken away from us and sometimes there is little\nwe can do to stop it.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But we can always take every moment we get to love and to live\nand be truly focused on how grateful we are for it.&nbsp; That is the trick to\navoid taking things for granted.
