{"id":11911,"date":"2019-11-10T14:00:16","date_gmt":"2019-11-10T20:00:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.amyreesanderson.com\/blog\/?p=11911"},"modified":"2019-11-10T00:34:57","modified_gmt":"2019-11-10T06:34:57","slug":"never-work-a-day-in-your-life","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.amyreesanderson.com\/blog\/never-work-a-day-in-your-life\/","title":{"rendered":"Never Work A Day In Your Life?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Last Thursday was quite the whirlwind of a day!\u00a0 I started off my day in the morning heading down to Provo Utah to speak at an event put on by RevRoad. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"RevRoad (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.revroad.com\" target=\"_blank\">RevRoad<\/a> is a business accelerator for entrepreneurs that offers coworking space, legal services, marketing, accounting, mentoring services, etc in return for equity.\u00a0 They asked me to come down to do a Q&amp;A session in front of an audience that was also live streamed over the internet.\u00a0 If you\u2019d like to watch the interview you can access it below but you need to fast forward the video to 41 minutes in and that&#8217;s where my interview begins:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Frevroadutah%2Fvideos%2F517946075420797%2F&#038;show_text=0&#038;width=560\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" style=\"border:none;overflow:hidden\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" allowTransparency=\"true\" allowFullScreen=\"true\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p>I finished the interview and had just enough time to race to my office in South Jordan to meet with a company late that afternoon that was pitching my partners and I on their business.\u00a0 Then an hour later I had to jump back in my car and drive to Salt Lake City for my next big event where I&#8217;d been asked to be a Shark for Warrior Rising\u2019s big Shark Tank Event.  <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Warrior Rising (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.warriorrising.org \" target=\"_blank\">Warrior Rising<\/a> is a non-profit group that helps Veterans become entrepreneurs by offering them training , mentoring, and helping connect them with investors, referring to their Veterans as \u201cVetrepreneurs\u201d. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event was a spirited one with the other Sharks and I was so impressed with the Veterans pitching us that I ended up saying I\u2019d go in on two of the five companies that presented.\u00a0 Funny thing was that neither of the deals I went in on are for businesses I would normally even have looked at, but the individual Veterans that pitched them were so humble and you could feel their work ethic and integrity they brought to the table&#8230;so I just couldn\u2019t stop myself from jumping in to invest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking about, mentoring on, and investing in entrepreneurs gives me so much joy!
