{"id":12094,"date":"2020-01-06T21:03:29","date_gmt":"2020-01-07T03:03:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.amyreesanderson.com\/blog\/?p=12094"},"modified":"2020-01-06T21:04:05","modified_gmt":"2020-01-07T03:04:05","slug":"how-to-combat-the-blues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.amyreesanderson.com\/blog\/how-to-combat-the-blues\/","title":{"rendered":"How To Combat The Blues"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Without a doubt one of the most dreaded things about January\nis coming back to work after the long holiday break to face all the emails,\nvoice messages, and letters that have piled up during your absence.&nbsp; Seeing all that work that\u2019s accumulated and\nrealizing how long it is going to take you just to catch back up again can be\ndownright discouraging, to say the least.&nbsp;\nAnd when you mix the backlog of work to do, with the realization that there\nisn\u2019t another holiday break coming again for quite some time, then add in the fact\nthat it is miserably cold outside, and top it off with clothes you now barely fit\ninto anymore due to all the goodies you consumed during the break&#8230;well, let\u2019s\njust say it\u2019s easy to find yourself starting to get the blues this time of year\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whenever I find myself starting to get the blues, which I definitely\nfelt a touch of today for all the reasons listed above, I find the thing that\nhelps me combat them the most is to talk myself through all the things that\nhave me feeling down, acknowledge that all those things are definitely a\nbummer, and then remind myself of all the things in life I have to be grateful for\nand add those up in my mind \u2013 eyes that can see, ears that can hear, a body\nthat can move about, an amazing family that I love, a beautiful home that gives\nme a warm place to sleep, talents and abilities I can use, a gorgeous State I get\nto live in, and the list goes on and on and on \u2013 and by the time I get done adding\nthat list up in my mind it becomes glaringly obvious that the last thing I should\nbe feeling is the blues when there is so much in life I should BE HAPPY about!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-text-align-center has-vivid-red-color\">\u201cThere is something in each day that can bring gratitude and joy if only we will see it and appreciate it. Perhaps we should be looking less with our eyes and more with our hearts.\u201d \u2013 Dieter F.
