{"id":12355,"date":"2020-03-09T23:59:32","date_gmt":"2020-03-10T05:59:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.amyreesanderson.com\/blog\/?p=12355"},"modified":"2020-03-10T00:02:28","modified_gmt":"2020-03-10T06:02:28","slug":"integrity-ethics-and-grace","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.amyreesanderson.com\/blog\/integrity-ethics-and-grace\/","title":{"rendered":"Integrity, Ethics, and Grace"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Tomorrow evening (March 10<sup>th<\/sup>) I am being honored as the 2020 Wheatley Distinguished Ethics Speaker for Brigham Young University where I\u2019ve been invited to give a lecture on the importance of Integrity and Ethics to a group of prominent business leaders, faculty, and students.\u00a0 In my lecture I am going to be sharing some experiences I\u2019ve been through in business that required me to hold strong to my values in times when doing so came at a cost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sitting here tonight trying to prepare my talk I\u2019ve had to delve into memories of experiences from the past&#8230;experiences where I had to learn to speak up when I was terrified to do so, experiences where I had to stand alone for what I knew was right, and experiences where keeping my integrity came at a price\u2026 I learned so much going through these experiences in business and they certainly helped me become the person I am today\u2026so for that I am grateful\u2026but they were painful and hard to go through so reliving them isn&#8217;t very much fun&#8230;.but hopefully sharing a few of the experiences I went through in my talk tomorrow can end up helping someone else in their life as well. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Integrity means everything to me.\u00a0 Nothing in life is worth trading integrity for. It\u2019s genuinely our most valuable asset.\u00a0 I will always do everything in my power to live my life with the integrity of the woman described in this poem below because living a life worthy of being described like THAT is what AWESOME looks like to me: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>     She had integrity<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>     In her bones and <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>     Was clothed <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>     In grace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>     She was beautiful;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>     Not only in how<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>     She looked,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>     But in who she was. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; -K.
