Weekend before this last one my family and I drove down to Lake Powell to spend a week on our houseboat. \u00a0The houseboat is somewhat like a little hotel on water so it provides the comforts of home while being anchored in the most incredibly gorgeous surroundings imaginable. Lake Powell is literally one of our favorite places on earth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prior to going on the trip I’d been feeling really hesitant to leave home with all the craziness going on in the world, but I knew I needed to get away and go somewhere where I would be able to disconnect from all the news, social media, emails, calls, etc and Lake Powell is the perfect place to do that. We anchor our houseboat out in the canyons where there isn\u2019t any cell service or internet service available, and while the first hour or so of being there you go through technology withdrawal, it quickly subsides as you begin to feel the tightness in your chest of information overload begin to loosen up and you no longer live in fear of notifications bearing negative news popping up on screen. The relief that comes once you disconnect is fantastic. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When our lives are bombarded with breaking news, social media posts, and emails we don\u2019t realize how caught up we’ve become in it and how wrapped around the axle we start feeling. But when we go offline for several days we can tangibly feel a difference in our happiness level, our minds become clear and our ability to put things in perspective improves. Away from life’s noise we can actually think, we can appreciate nature and our surroundings, and we can focus on being with those we love. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’m grateful to have gotten time away from life’s noise. Here’s a few fun pics from our trip:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
