Because seeing ourselves and others through that empathetic perspective allows us to be honest with ourselves about the emotions we felt, it allows us to grieve, it allows us to let go of the need for justice, it helps us forgive those who wronged us, and most important, it helps us forgive ourselves for the “should have’s” and “if only’s” and recognize that we can’t go back and change what has passed so those thoughts will never be able to bring us peace.

Making peace with the past comes when we forgive ourselves and others, when we see the positive that came from having gone through what we did, and when we take all we’ve learned from it and use it to then help others.

~Amy Rees Anderson (author of the book “What Awesome Looks Like: How To Excel in Business & Life” )

“You must make peace with your past at some point in your life to truly grow.” – unknown Sometimes we go through things in life that are so traumatic emotionally that we bury them or file things away, we tell ourselves to forget about them, and we put all our focus on the future. In […]

[1
24013,326,395,24014,1300,24011,24015,3436,24012,412,1049,15256,24018,24016,6496,24010,24008,24019,7313,21972,24009,6165,24020,24017,19932
post-12938","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-uncategorized","tag-a-victim","tag-abuse","tag-amy-rees-anderson","tag-burying-trauma","tag-counseling","tag-emotional-triggers","tag-empathetic-perspective","tag-fight-or-flight","tag-flooded-with-emotion","tag-help-others","tag-if-only","tag-let-go-of-the-past","tag-make-peace-with-the-past","tag-make-peace-with-your-past","tag-pay-it-forward","tag-put-our-past-behind-us","tag-revisit-the-past","tag-see-the-positives-that-came","tag-should-have","tag-the-past-is-in-the-past","tag-trauma","tag-trigger","tag-use-what-you-learn-to-help-others","tag-we-cant-change-the-past","tag-what-awesome-looks-like
["GET
