{"id":1393,"date":"2012-09-25T00:19:43","date_gmt":"2012-09-25T06:19:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.amyreesanderson.com\/blog\/?p=1393"},"modified":"2012-10-25T15:05:35","modified_gmt":"2012-10-25T21:05:35","slug":"forget-your-stresses-gangnam-style","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.amyreesanderson.com\/blog\/forget-your-stresses-gangnam-style\/","title":{"rendered":"Forget your stresses, Gangnam Style!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tonight I came home from work after working late to pack up the rest of my pictures off my office walls, very much feeling the weight of exactly how much I still need to get transitioned before the end of this week.\u00a0 The stress of the week was weighing heavily on my shoulders.\u00a0 As I sat down to try and relax for a moment, my 16 year old daughter came bounding out in front of me yelling \u201cGangnam Style\u201d and she proceeded to play the song and demonstrate the newest dance craze of Gangnam Style.\u00a0 All I could do was sit and laugh out loud at the silliness.\u00a0 When she and my husband explained that this new music video song and dance has already been viewed over 270 million times on you tube, and it has already had more people posting copycat videos of their own than anything else on you tube right now, I thought to myself \u2013 I get it!\u00a0 No, I am not saying that I get Gangnam Style song in any way, because I definitely don\u2019t, but what I do get is the need for there to be a little more silliness in our lives.\u00a0 We deal with so much stress and pressure on a daily basis, between our work lives and our home lives and our family and community responsibilities, that it is no wonder that people would go nuts over a music dance video that is sheer silliness and no meaning other than to be free and fun and to dance!\u00a0 It is an opportunity to put your anxieties aside and do something totally meaningless and goofy that just makes you laugh!<\/p>\n<p>I recently read:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Silliness induces laughter. Laughter is considered \u2018nature\u2019s medicine\u2019. So, what are some of the proven benefits?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">\u2022Laughter triggers the release of endorphines \u2013 the body\u2019s natural \u2018feel good\u2019 hormones.<br \/>\n\u2022Laughter relaxes the body and relieves tension.<br \/>\n\u2022Laughter boosts the immune system by decreasing stress hormones and increasing immune cells and disease and infection-fighting antibodies.<br \/>\n\u2022Laughter protects your heart by improving the function of blood vessels and increasing blood flow, both of which can help protect you from heart problems.<\/p>\n<p>So, duh!\u00a0 What we all need is a little more SILLY and A LOT more laughter in our lives.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">\u201cLive a life of love, honesty, appreciation, kindness, and strength. Sprinkled with a little silliness.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Today we all clearly need to learn to dance to Gangnam Style!\u00a0 Be silly! Have fun!\u00a0 Laugh!
