I mentioned last week that for UEA my husband and I decided to take my daughter and four of her close friends for a teenager\u2019s getaway weekend- we spent that weekend\u00a0in Las Vegas.\u00a0 Yes, it was us and five 16 year old girls\u2026Rollin deserves a medal for handling that trip as well as he did!\u00a0 The girls were darling and the weekend was a blast. We did everything from riding the crazy roller coasters on the top of the Stratosphere to the leisurely ride in the Gondola\u2019s at the Venetian hotel.\u00a0 The highlight for the girls was going to see the hip hop dance crew called the Jabbawockeez.\u00a0 They were amazing!<\/p>\n

We also stopped at a wax museum where we took a few fun photos:<\/p>\n

It really turned out to be a great trip with the girls.\u00a0 It was so fun to spend time with all of them and I was totally impressed with what good girls all of them were.\u00a0 I am really proud of them for having high standards in their lives.\u00a0 They are surrounded daily with a lot of trash in the world and it is so awesome to see that these young teenagers have such a good moral compass.\u00a0 I think young people today are incredible.\u00a0 They are smart and funny and they have a ton of character.\u00a0 It was a privilege to be able to spend three days with these girls and I thank them for showing two old parents such a fun time on our trip.\u00a0 Even if they did almost get hotel security called on us for jumping on their beds at 2am giggling so loud!<\/p>\n

Rollin and I loved every minute of our time with them and more than anything it reminded us as parents to cherish every second you have with your children while they are still living at home.\u00a0 Too soon the time comes when they are off on their own to college or starting their own adult lives and we only have so much time where they are living under our roofs to spend time with us.\u00a0 And the fact is that it doesn\u2019t have to be a fancy trip to Las Vegas to be good quality time.\u00a0 Some of my best memories with my kids have been doing simple things like hanging out on our trampoline in the backyard looking up at the sky, or playing board games together and talking smack to one another on who will win, or going on a hay ride to the pumpkin patch in Santaquin, Utah to pick out our Halloween pumpkins and have homemade apple cider.\u00a0 \u00a0Every little experience counts, and I can tell you that in the end those memories will matter far more to you as you send them out the door of your home then you realize.\u00a0 We never seem to appreciate what we have until its gone from our lives, and after sending Dalton out to college and then on his mission I have vowed to appreciate every single moment I have left with my daughter at home.\u00a0 I am going to learn from my own experience and appreciate my time with her while I still have it.\u00a0 If you haven\u2019t sent a child out into the world yet then learn from my lessons and start appreciate those moments NOW!\u00a0 And take a ton of photos and write down the memories because they will be something you pull out years later and watch over and over again.\u00a0 They say that life is short, but I am realizing that our time as parents is far shorter so I intend to appreciate every moment I am blessed to be a mom from now on.<\/p>\n
