{"id":1855,"date":"2012-11-15T23:39:19","date_gmt":"2012-11-16T05:39:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.amyreesanderson.com\/blog\/?p=1855"},"modified":"2012-11-16T10:14:20","modified_gmt":"2012-11-16T16:14:20","slug":"you-are-smarter-then-you-think-and-more-amazing-than-you-realize","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.amyreesanderson.com\/blog\/you-are-smarter-then-you-think-and-more-amazing-than-you-realize\/","title":{"rendered":"You are Smarter Than You Think and More Amazing than You Realize!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today I had the privilege of speaking down at UVU.\u00a0 Can I just tell you that I LOVE talking to the students at the colleges.\u00a0 They are so incredibly amazing and they don\u2019t even know it yet.<\/p>\n<p>My goal, when I go and talk with the students, is to help them realize that they are just as good and just as smart and just as capable as every other successful person out there.\u00a0 The issue these young people\u00a0have isn\u2019t their ability; it is their lack of believing in themselves.\u00a0 So many young people think that because they are young and inexperienced that they can\u2019t measure up &#8211; but it\u2019s just not true.\u00a0 Young people are absolutely BRILLIANT!\u00a0 Young people learn faster than adults do, they are more creative than adults are, they take in information more quickly, and they seem to be born with an inherent understanding of technology that is mind boggling. \u00a0The only thing that young people lack is a belief in themselves and a belief in how amazing the things they can accomplish are. \u00a0\u00a0And so I hope they believe me when I tell them that they are amazing and they are truly capable of accomplishing anything they set their hearts and minds to.\u00a0 They are capable of truly changing the world.<\/p>\n<p>I genuinely believe that every one of us came into this life with unique God given gifts and talents.\u00a0 I also believe that the reason we were given these talents was to facilitate our ability to make a great contribution to this world.\u00a0 \u00a0Our job is to recognize and appreciate these gifts and talents and then figure out how to use them to accomplish things that make this world a better place.<\/p>\n<p>One thing we should never do is to diminish ourselves and our worth.\u00a0 We should never doubt that we are capable of being amazing if we choose to.\u00a0 Every single person in this world is capable of greatness.\u00a0 I truly believe that.\u00a0 And no one should ever get caught up in the trap of comparing their talents to someone else\u2019s talents in an attempt to rank them as one being more valuable or more important than another.\u00a0 One talent is never above another:\u00a0 musical talent isn\u2019t better or worse than artistic talent, just as technical talents are not better or worse than having the talent of being able to lift others spirits.\u00a0 Every talent is different, but each is equal.\u00a0 And every talent you have been blessed with, if you take advantage of it and grow it, will help you to make the world a better place in your own unique way that only you can do.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">\u201cWe ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you <em>not<\/em> to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There&#8217;s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won&#8217;t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It&#8217;s not just in some of us; it&#8217;s in everyone.
