{"id":2343,"date":"2013-01-21T23:52:19","date_gmt":"2013-01-22T05:52:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.amyreesanderson.com\/blog\/?p=2343"},"modified":"2013-01-21T23:52:38","modified_gmt":"2013-01-22T05:52:38","slug":"funny-quote-leads-to-a-great-reminder","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.amyreesanderson.com\/blog\/funny-quote-leads-to-a-great-reminder\/","title":{"rendered":"Funny Quote Leads to a Great Reminder\u2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So I came across the funniest quote that totally made me think of my something my daughter Ashley\u00a0does (thus her avatar on today&#8217;s post).\u00a0 The quote goes like this:<\/p>\n<address style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">When your home alone and someone knocks on your door:<\/address>\n<address style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 10% say \u201cwho is it?\u201d<\/address>\n<address style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 64% look through the peep hole.<\/address>\n<address style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 25% open the door.<\/address>\n<address style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 1% crawl around on the ground like a ninja and look through the window very quietly to make sure it isn\u2019t a masked murderer.<\/address>\n<p>When I finished reading it to my daughter she started busting up because she is totally part of that 1%.\u00a0 When I asked her why she does that whole ninja thing she said \u201cCause I know you won\u2019t let me open the door for strangers, but I also know you want me to get the packages from the UPS guy, so I have to crawl around to see if his truck is out there first so I know it\u2019s okay to answer the door\u201d. \u00a0\u00a0Then she randomly followed that up with saying, \u201cHey one day when Dad was here and he answered the door I heard him say \u201cThanks\u201d to the UPS guy and I thought that was really cool, so we should always remember to do that.\u00a0 Yeah, him and the person who hands you toilet paper when you are in a stall that doesn\u2019t have any in a public restroom and you have to scream for help, we should remember to thank them as well.\u201d\u00a0 I laughed so hard my sides hurt.\u00a0 Some days that child cracks me up beyond belief.\u00a0 She then started listing all the people in life she thought we should all remember to thank a little more often \u2013 she referred to them as the unsung heroes that help us every day:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">The UPS Guy that brings your packages (especially the ones from zappos!)<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">The Mailman who brings your mail each day, even in the bad weather<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">The Person at the Grocery store that bags your groceries for you<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">The parking garage attendant that takes your ticket and lets you out<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">The receptionist at the front desk<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">The garbage man that comes each week to take the trash<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">The person who serves your food at the restaurant<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">The pharmacist that fills a prescription for you<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">The person working the counter at the gas station<\/p>\n<p>So today\u2019s challenge is for all of us to do a better job of saying \u201cThank You!\u201d to all of those people who help us with the everyday things in our lives that we so often overlook.\u00a0 What a great challenge from a great daughter!
