It was just one of those really tough weeks when you find yourself discouraged and down and you need someone to reach out to you to help lift you up again and you need that gentle reminder to hang in there…

And so as a family we decided to put together a care package to send to my son with a card a day for him to read during the week with some goodies and fun things in the package. It was clear to us from his letter that he was feeling down and he really needed a pick me up. All of us have those days sometimes and all of us need a little care package from the people we love to help get us back on our feet. So, I sent my daughter to go to the store to pick out some fun, happy cards to put into his care package we were assembling. Ashley came home with the funniest stack of Hallmark cards I think I have ever seen. One of them was too awesome not to share with all of you. It read as follows:__________________________________________

(outside of card)

Hang in there…

Sometimes life hands you lemons, but then you can make lemonade.

(inside of card)

Of course, sometimes life pulls down your pants, runs a power sander across your naked butt, then pours lemon juice on your raw abraded buttocks.

In that case, a cool citrus drink wouldn’t really help but, darn it…you’ve got to hang in there anyway!

__________________________________________

Okay that is freaking hilarious! I loved it because I knew that card would make Dalton laugh out loud. I knew that laughing out loud would be just the release he needs and it would help him remember to hang in there because it is going to be okay. Oh how humor can help put everything back into perspective for us! Nothing heals the saddened soul like a good dose of laughter will!

When you find yourself feeling discouraged, find something to make you laugh. A funny quote, a good joke, a silly picture, a good comedy on TV or a funny movie. And then LAUGH!

“When life gives you a hundred reasons to cry, show life that you have a thousand reasons to smile.” ~Author Unknown

If things seem rough in your life right now or if you have been feeling discouraged, HANG IN THERE! And then find a reason to LAUGH! Oh, and don’t forget to make some lemonade 🙂

Have a good Thursday!

~Amy

I received a letter from my son this week in which he shared he had an incredibly difficult week on his mission.
