{"id":3340,"date":"2013-06-27T00:02:21","date_gmt":"2013-06-27T06:02:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.amyreesanderson.com\/blog\/?p=3340"},"modified":"2013-06-27T00:02:40","modified_gmt":"2013-06-27T06:02:40","slug":"the-smallest-act-of-kindness-is-worth-more-than-the-grandest-intention-oscar-wilde","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.amyreesanderson.com\/blog\/the-smallest-act-of-kindness-is-worth-more-than-the-grandest-intention-oscar-wilde\/","title":{"rendered":"\u201cThe smallest act of kindness is worth more than the grandest intention.\u201d -oscar wilde"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today I was reminded of the importance of the smallest kind act:\u00a0\u00a0a simple smile, holding the door open for someone, saying hello, giving a compliment, lending a hand, being a friend.\u00a0 So many times we think to ourselves that we want to be a good person and do something kind for someone, yet when we walk by someone in the hall we forget to smile or say hello.\u00a0\u00a0 Sometimes we wait for the big moments to show we care, when really we should be showing others that we care in small acts of kindness all day long.\u00a0 What small act of kindness will you offer to change the world today?&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>One of the easiest acts of kindness is to smile at people.\u00a0 When we go out of the way to smile at someone, what we are really doing is saying &#8220;I accept you&#8221; and &#8220;you matter to me&#8221; and &#8220;you are welcome here&#8221;.\u00a0 Making others feel accepted and loved is one of the kindest acts you can do.<\/p>\n<p>Another small act of kindness is to give a compliment to someone who does something good.\u00a0 So often we think a compliment in our heads but we don&#8217;t come out and say the words.\u00a0 I once heard a talk in which it was relayed that holding back from giving a compliment\u00a0that is deserved\u00a0is an act of arrogance and pride.\u00a0 When I first heard that\u00a0it really made me think about it, and I realized it is true.\u00a0 Not giving a compliment of praise when it is deserved by another is\u00a0wrong.\u00a0 We should always be willing to tell other&#8217;s the positive things they do and\u00a0our gratitude for those things.\u00a0 We have to remember that a compliment that goes unshared means nothing to anyone, ever.\u00a0 So don&#8217;t hold back &#8211;
