{"id":3366,"date":"2013-07-04T18:00:04","date_gmt":"2013-07-05T00:00:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.amyreesanderson.com\/blog\/?p=3366"},"modified":"2013-06-28T00:37:49","modified_gmt":"2013-06-28T06:37:49","slug":"wisdom-taught-by-example-of-a-tree","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.amyreesanderson.com\/blog\/wisdom-taught-by-example-of-a-tree\/","title":{"rendered":"Wisdom Taught By Example Of A Tree"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of my very favorite poets is Shel Silverstein, and one of my very favorite books, which he wrote, is called \u201cThe Giving Tree\u201d.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0It\u2019s an amazing story of a tree that loves a young boy.\u00a0 The tree cares for the boy, protects the boy, feeds the boy, and over the years ultimately gives every part of itself to help the boy to be happy, which is what gives the tree its joy.\u00a0 The book is a story of unselfish love and service and the joy that brings into our lives.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amyreesanderson.com\/blog\/?attachment_id=3367\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3367\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3367 aligncenter\" alt=\"991\" src=\"https:\/\/www.amyreesanderson.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/991.jpg\" width=\"172\" height=\"222\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.amyreesanderson.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/991.jpg 318w, https:\/\/www.amyreesanderson.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/991-232x300.jpg 232w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 172px) 100vw, 172px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>So often in life when we start to feel down we will find that our focus has become too much on our selves, on our own problems, on our own wants and needs.\u00a0 The more we focus on ourselves the easier it is to become discouraged and depressed.<\/p>\n<p>By the same token, when we are feeling the greatest happiness we will notice that our focus has been pointed on helping others.\u00a0 The more we focus on helping others, the more joy and contentment we feel in our own life.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, that book has some amazing lessons that come from the example of the wise and loving tree.\u00a0 It\u2019s a book that is always worth the quick read (its short with big print and pictures which is always my favorite :)).
