Life is full of unexpected events, changes, and uncertainty.\u00a0 Sometimes those changes are exciting and wonderful, and sometimes they are devastating, painful and hard.<\/p>\n

C.S. Lewis is my favorite author.\u00a0 I have learned many important life lessons by reading his books.\u00a0 One of his quotes that has helped me tremendously as I have dealt with the unexpected changes and events throughout my life is this:<\/p>\n

\u201cImagine yourself as a living house. God comes in to rebuild that house. At first, perhaps, you can understand what He is doing. He is getting the drains right and stopping the leaks in the roof and so on: you knew those jobs needed doing and so you are not surprised. But presently he starts knocking the house about in a way that hurts abominably and does not seem to make sense. What on earth is He up to? The explanation is that He is building quite a different house from the one you thought of\u2014throwing out a new wing here, putting on an extra floor there, running up towers, making courtyards. You thought you were going to be made into a decent little cottage: but He is building a palace.\u201d<\/span> <\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0(C. S. Lewis, Mere Christianity,<\/i> New York: MacMillan Co., 1960, p. 160).<\/p>\n

The quote has helped me to keep the unexpected changes and events in my life in perspective.\u00a0 When I get frustrated that things are going the way that I think they should I have to stop and think to myself \u201cDon\u2019t stress\u2026He is building you a palace :)\u201d<\/p>\n

When we are faced with life changes, as we are all on a daily basis, and that change brings hardship or struggle, we have to remember that it is in those times of change that we grow and progress the most in our lives.\u00a0 And as hard as change may be at the time it is happening, when we look back at our lives, it is those times of change that we are the most proud of having made it through.\u00a0 It is those valleys of life that we climbed out of that give us a sense of accomplishment and pride for a job well done.<\/p>\n

Life is definitely happier when you can live it with faith \u2013 faith that when the walls are getting toppled in on you and nothing seems to make sense you are able to remember that God is the master builder and He knows exactly what He is doing.\u00a0 SO BRING ON THAT PALACE!<\/p>\n
