{"id":4070,"date":"2013-12-01T21:26:13","date_gmt":"2013-12-02T03:26:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.amyreesanderson.com\/blog\/?p=4070"},"modified":"2013-12-01T21:33:44","modified_gmt":"2013-12-02T03:33:44","slug":"welcome-home-there-is-only-23-days-til-christmas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.amyreesanderson.com\/blog\/welcome-home-there-is-only-23-days-til-christmas\/","title":{"rendered":"Welcome Home, There is Only 23 Days Til Christmas!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It was a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday weekend.\u00a0 We went to visit my husband\u2019s family in Idaho on their family farm.\u00a0 There is very little as fitting as celebrating Thanksgiving on the farm.\u00a0 We had amazing food (all homemade of course!), my daughter learned to drive the front loader tractor, and they went shooting clay pigeons.\u00a0 The kids played on the iced over creek bed and we took rides around the farm in the mule and the 4-wheelers.\u00a0 Then we ate good food and played card games and speed scrabble.\u00a0 The kids created a big dominoes maze that covered the living room floor and ended by releasing a birthday balloon in the air that was a signal for all of us to start singing Happy Birthday to my husband\u2019s sister.\u00a0 We were able to get to see the new Disney movie Frozen which is a definite must see for everyone (cutest movie ever).\u00a0 And then my own little brother and his wife and their kids were able to drive up from Mountain Home, Idaho where they live to join us for one of our days on the farm. \u00a0All in all it was a fabulous holiday full of good food and good memories.<\/p>\n<p>I cannot believe it is already December!!!\u00a0 Only 23 Days left until Christmas!\u00a0 But lest you think Christmas is the only exciting holiday this month \u2013 think again! The month of December is full of some memorable and wacky celebration days.\u00a0 Let\u2019s look at a few between now and Christmas Day.\u00a0 Celebrate each one of these special days with your friends and loved ones sand children.\u00a0 It is a fun way to entertain everyone while they wait for the big Christmas Day to arrive.<\/p>\n<p>December 1<sup>st<\/sup> \u2013 Eat a red apple day<\/p>\n<p>December 2<sup>nd<\/sup> \u2013 National Fritters Day (make sure you eat a yummy fritter this day!)<\/p>\n<p>December 3<sup>rd<\/sup> \u2013 National Roof over your Head Day (a day to give thanks for all the blessings you have in your life, starting with the roof over your head!)<\/p>\n<p>December 4<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 Santa\u2019s List Day! (this is the day Santa goes through to see if you are on his naughty or nice list in preparation for having his elves make your Christmas gifts).<\/p>\n<p>December 5<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 Bathtub Party Day (this day is for taking a long, hot, relaxing bubble bath in your bathtub)<\/p>\n<p>December 6<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 St. Nicholas Day (this is the day to officially celebrate the Christian Saint Nicholas and the life he lived).\u00a0 Also this day is Mitten Tree Day (the day for young kids to hang a pair of mittens on a Christmas tree).<\/p>\n<p>December 7<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 Letter Writing Day (today is a day to write a hand written letter and send it to someone.\u00a0 It is a perfect way to let someone know you care).\u00a0 It also happens to be National Cotton Candy Day today so celebrate by eating Cotton Candy (which used to be called fairy floss by the way).<\/p>\n<p>December 8<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 National Brownie Day ( a day to each gooey, chewy, yummy brownies)<\/p>\n<p>December 9<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 Christmas Card Day (this day is to honor Sir Henry Cole of England.\u00a0 He created the first commercial Christmas card in 1843).<\/p>\n<p>December 10<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 Human Rights Day (this is a day to give special attention to Human Rights issues affecting people throughout the world.\u00a0 Give time and money to help with these important issues).<\/p>\n<p>December 11<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 National Noodle Ring Day (a day to enjoy yummy noodles \u2013 bust out the cans of spaghetti o\u2019s)<\/p>\n<p>December 12<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 National Ding-a-Ling Day (this is the day to \u201cring your bell\u201d but not a metal bell as you may imagine, no this is a day for normal people to act a little crazy, to cut loose, to be silly and wacky)<\/p>\n<p>December 13<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0 &#8211; National Ice Cream Day (okay how fabulous is this!!! A day to celebrate ice cream!\u00a0 How fabulous! )<\/p>\n<p>December 14<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 National Bouillabaisse Day (this is a day to enjoy a cup of soup or a bowl of hot stew).<\/p>\n<p>December 15<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 Bill of Rights Day (a day to celebrate the freedoms we enjoy in America).\u00a0 Oh, and today is also National Lemon Cupcake Day so while you are celebrating your freedoms be sure to eat a delicious lemon cupcake.<\/p>\n<p>December 16<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 National Chocolate Covered Anything Day (today is the day to cover everything and anything in chocolate.\u00a0 This is going to be my mother\u2019s favorite day of the month!\u00a0 She is a true chocolate lover.)<\/p>\n<p>December 17<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 National Maple Syrup Day (whip up some pancakes and cover them in maple syrup)<\/p>\n<p>December 18<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 Bake Cookies Day (which fits perfectly with the need to make cute decorated Christmas cookies to take to friends and neighbors)<\/p>\n<p>December 19<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 Today is Look for an Evergreen Day and Oatmeal Muffin Day (so go find a Christmas tree and then celebrate your perfect tree with a little oatmeal muffin)<\/p>\n<p>December 20<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 Go Caroling Day (put on your warm coat and gloves and go out and sing carols to every house that will open their door for you).<\/p>\n<p>December 21<sup>st<\/sup> \u2013 Look on the Bright Side Day (this is a day to be optimistic and to look for the bright side of every situation.\u00a0 It is also the shortest day of the year, winter solstice.\u00a0 Ironically today is also Humbug Day (a day for grumpy people to complain about the holidays).\u00a0 So I suppose today we will find out who the positive happy people are and who the grumpy negative people are.<\/p>\n<p>December 22<sup>nd<\/sup> \u2013 National Date Nut Bread Day (shoot\u2026..a day to celebrate fruit cake\u2026ouch\u2026I can\u2019t stand fruit cake\u2026.but for those who like it today is your day to celebrate)<\/p>\n<p>December 23<sup>rd<\/sup> \u2013 Roots Day (today is a day to celebrate your roots, your ancestors, where you came from.\u00a0 It is a day to look back and learn about your family tree by doing genealogy and reading family histories.\u00a0 If you need a good website to do research on your family history try going to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.familysearch.org\">www.familysearch.org<\/a> )<\/p>\n<p>December 24<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 Christmas Eve and National Egg Nog Day.\u00a0 (this day speaks for itself, have a big eve celebration with lots of egg nog!)<\/p>\n<p>December 25<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 CHRISTMAS!<\/p>\n<p>So you see, there are 25 days of fun things to celebrate this month.\u00a0 May we all head into this month with the spirit of charity and love and kindness in our hearts.\u00a0 May we all let go of past hurts, mend broken relationships, express our love to all, and truly celebrate each day of this
