{"id":4091,"date":"2013-12-05T20:19:27","date_gmt":"2013-12-06T02:19:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.amyreesanderson.com\/blog\/?p=4091"},"modified":"2013-12-05T20:20:31","modified_gmt":"2013-12-06T02:20:31","slug":"more-inspiring-stories-from-the-ted-women-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.amyreesanderson.com\/blog\/more-inspiring-stories-from-the-ted-women-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"More Inspiring Stories from the TED Women Conference"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today was another great day in San Francisco at the TED Women\u2019s Conference.\u00a0 Here are a few inspirational stories to share from today:<\/p>\n<p>Diana Nyad:\u00a0 In 2013, at the age of 64and as her fifth attempt to do so, Diana swam all the way from Cuba to Florida.\u00a0 A total distance of 110 miles in about 53 hours.\u00a0 Diana was supported by a 35 person team who stayed nearby in boats to support her along the way. \u00a0\u00a0What I personally loved most about her story was the fact that she succeeded on her FIFTH attempt.\u00a0 Not the first or second or third\u2026.the FIFTH!\u00a0 Talk about perseverance toward achieving your life goal.\u00a0 Wow!\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0Diana shared that her motto in life is \u201cFind a Way\u201d, if you have a dream then find a way to make it happen.\u00a0 \u00a0No doubt that this is exactly what she did!<\/p>\n<p>Jessica Matthews:\u00a0 A young girl who took a soccer ball and used it to harness energy so it could be used for things like providing enough light for a child to read or do homework at night when they have no electricity.\u00a0 Jessica\u2019s mantra is \u201cimproving lives through play\u201d and she is accomplishing that through her non-profit Unchartered Play.\u00a0 Today she is only 25 years old and she goes back and forth from running her charity to Harvard to finish her degree.\u00a0 Talk about our youth today making a difference in the world!\u00a0 Jessica proves that you are never too young to have a big impact!<\/p>\n<p>Maya Penn:\u00a0 Maya was a personal favorite today.
