Six years ago December 31st<\/sup> I married the man of my dreams in the most beautiful wedding imaginable.\u00a0 My husband wanted us to get married on New Year\u2019s because he said that would ensure that he never forgot our wedding anniversary \u2013 smart man \ud83d\ude09\u00a0 \u2026 On that day we were surrounded by family and friends, great food, fun music, and plenty of dancing into the night.\u00a0 We ended the reception by running through a tunnel lined with people holding sparklers.\u00a0 It was a fairy tale wedding.<\/p>\n

One of the unique things about our wedding was that we actually had two wedding ceremonies. \u00a0Let me explain. \u00a0In my church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) we get married in the temple where the legal ceremony takes place as well as the sealing ceremony where our marriage is sealed for eternity (as opposed to be married til death do us part). \u00a0At the time of my wedding my father was actually serving in the temple presidency and as a Sealer in the LDS temple in Ghana Africa. \u00a0Because of that we wanted to have my father perform our sealing in Ghana. \u00a0In most parts of the world the legal and sealing ceremony are performed together and recognized by the government as official. \u00a0However, in Africa that is not the case and you are required to have a legal ceremony separate from the temple sealing ceremony. \u00a0So in order to have my father do our sealing in Africa we were required to have a legal wedding ceremony in the US first. \u00a0We obtained special permission required by our church to have the two ceremonies back to back, and we were able to have a civil wedding ceremony here in Salt Lake City, Utah on December 31st, 2007 and then we flew to Africa a few days later and my father performed the sealing ceremony in the Ghana temple. \u00a0The neatest part of having the two ceremonies was that my children were able to be at the civil wedding ceremony in Utah, with my daughter serving as my Maid of Honor and my son walking me down the aisle to give me away. \u00a0It was a fairy tale wedding in every way that New Years Eve. \u00a0Then flying to Africa with my husband’s parents to see my parents and have my own father perform the sealing ceremony was just amazing. \u00a0I couldn’t have asked for a more amazing wedding and I couldn’t have been marrying a better man. \u00a0My husband is truly the most amazing man I know and I feel so blessed to have found my sweetheart, my best friend and my eternal companion in Rollin. \u00a0Not only that but he is the most amazing father to my two children and that is the biggest blessing of all. \u00a0Yes, I am a lucky woman for sure! \u00a0Happy Anniversary Rollin! \u00a0I love you.<\/p>\n
