{"id":416,"date":"2012-09-03T23:58:35","date_gmt":"2012-09-04T05:58:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.amyreesanderson.com\/blog\/?p=416"},"modified":"2012-10-26T15:03:37","modified_gmt":"2012-10-26T21:03:37","slug":"who-do-you-want-to-be","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.amyreesanderson.com\/blog\/who-do-you-want-to-be\/","title":{"rendered":"Who Do You Want To Be?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cSometimes you need to step outside, get some air, and remind yourself of who you are and who you want to be.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 -unknown.<\/p>\n<p>This Labor Day weekend was fabulous because it allowed me that time to sit back and remember exactly what and who I want to be.\u00a0 I think it is so important to have a direction in our lives.\u00a0 To have a vision of where we are trying to go and what we hope to accomplish.\u00a0 One of my favorite quotes is the quote from Alice in Wonderland where Alice has come to a fork in the road and she asks the Cheshire Cat which way she should go.\u00a0 Says Alice:<\/p>\n<p>`Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?&#8217;<br \/>\n`That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,&#8217; said the Cat.<br \/>\n`I don&#8217;t much care where&#8211;&#8216; said Alice.<br \/>\n`Then it doesn&#8217;t matter which way you go,&#8217; said the Cat.<\/p>\n<p>If we don\u2019t have a vision for the future, then we have no idea of where to take our next step.\u00a0 But if we can sit down and really think through the question \u201cwhat do I want to be when I grow up?\u201d (and I think this question applies to all of us, regardless of our age), and if we ask ourselves the question \u201cwhat is the end result that I hope to achieve with my life?\u201d, then we will find that our path on how to achieve that end result will become much more apparent to us and it will help us start to set goals in our lives that can lead us there.<\/p>\n<p>Setting goaIs is critical.\u00a0 It is amazing to compare the lives of those who set goals in their lives against the lives of those who don\u2019t set goals and just tend to go where the current takes them.\u00a0 Is it any wonder that those people with goals and direction end up accomplishing so much more?\u00a0\u00a0 And it all begins with the simple act of writing those goals down.\u00a0 Did you know that it\u2019s said that less than 10% of people writ their goals down?\u00a0 And of those who do nothing more than simply write them down, their percentage of completing their goals is unbelievably high compared to those who didn\u2019t.\u00a0 I personally like to take my written goals and turn them into a visual goal poster.\u00a0 One that includes pictures of the end results I am trying to accomplish.\u00a0 I have done goal posters since I hit my 20\u2019s and it\u2019s amazing what that goal poster will do for your life.\u00a0 Trust me.\u00a0 It is MAGIC!<\/p>\n<p>And most of all, we need to decide the type of human being we want to be, our personal values we want to reflect.\u00a0 A person of integrity.\u00a0 A person of grace.\u00a0 A person of love.\u00a0 A person of virtue.\u00a0\u00a0A person of\u2026the list can go on and on, but it\u2019s important to make that list for yourself and then evaluate how you are sizing up to the person you most want to be.\u00a0 \u00a0And yes, I do have a picture of Wonder Woman on my goal poster, because let&#8217;s face it\u00a0&#8211; she can do pretty much anything!\u00a0 Just listen to her theme song talking about how she is fighting for your rights, in her satin tights as she is changing the world&#8230;doess it get any better than that?!?\u00a0\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u201cBe the Type of Person You Want to Meet&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Yes, taking time to remind ourselves of who we are and who we want to be is one of the most therapeutic things we can do toward helping ourselves to become the best \u2018us\u2019 we can be.\u00a0\u00a0 I personally found that I still have a lot of things I need to work on to become my best self, but at least I have a list of what to work on and I have my set of goals to help get me there.\u00a0 So at least I can\u00a0be walking in the right direction \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>Have a great day everyone!<\/p>\n<p>~Amy<\/p>\n<p>PS.\u00a0 I got word that my son Dalton is safe and okay despite the hurricane and tornado last week.\u00a0 Thank heavens for that blessing!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cSometimes you need to step outside, get some air, and remind yourself of who you are and who you want to be.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 -unknown.
