{"id":4502,"date":"2014-04-16T23:55:56","date_gmt":"2014-04-17T05:55:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.amyreesanderson.com\/blog\/?p=4502"},"modified":"2014-04-16T23:56:13","modified_gmt":"2014-04-17T05:56:13","slug":"accept-what-it-is-let-go-of-what-it-was-and-faith-in-what-will-be","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.amyreesanderson.com\/blog\/accept-what-it-is-let-go-of-what-it-was-and-faith-in-what-will-be\/","title":{"rendered":"\u201cAccept what it is, let go of what it was, and faith in what will be.\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have thought a lot about changes lately as I just spent the last several days with my daughter and her high school friends on a trip to Las Vegas for her Senior Spring Break trip I had promised to take her on.\u00a0 The timing of the trip couldn\u2019t have been worse as we are smack in the middle of trying to complete our new home so we can get moved in, but I knew this was her last spring break from high school before she graduates and I had to make that the priority because I knew I could never get that chance back again.\u00a0 I knew that very soon everything was going to change with her\u2026..and knowing that kills me\u2026..<\/p>\n<p>My baby is all grown up and soon she will be leaving me to go to college.\u00a0 I barely survived sending my son out into the world and now I am going to have to face sending my baby girl out into the world as well.\u00a0 And no matter how hard I fight it, or how hard I dig in my heels, that change is going to happen and I am going to have to face it and move past it and that scares me to death.\u00a0 On the one hand I am so proud that she has grown up to be an amazing adult and on the other hand I am so not ready to stop seeing her as that cute little baby with the big dark curls in her hair and that bottle in her mouth as she stomped around the room taking command of every room she entered.\u00a0 I am not ready for life to change with her\u2026.but it will and it will very soon\u2026.<\/p>\n<p>I found an amazing quote by C.S. Lewis, my favorite author of all time.\u00a0 It has caused me to really think a lot about my need to embrace the change taking place with my baby girl that is coming in my life:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993366;\">\u201cGetting over a painful experience is much like crossing monkey bars.\u00a0 You have to let go at some point in order to move forward.\u201d \u2013 C.S. Lewis<\/span><\/p>\n<p>I know I will have to let go at some point in order for both she and I to move forward.\u00a0 It is a necessary part of the growing process.\u00a0 I get that. But it doesn\u2019t change that it is hard and it hurts \u2013 it does\u2026.a lot.\u00a0 But as with everything in life the changes are going to happen and no matter what aspect of our lives they happen in we can only allow ourselves to fall apart for a small amount of time before we have to force ourselves to get back up and brush ourselves off and make the choice to move forward so we can allow God to bring even better things ahead into our world.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993366;\">\u201cThere are far, far better things ahead than anything we leave behind.\u201d \u2013 C.S.
