{"id":4680,"date":"2014-06-05T22:44:53","date_gmt":"2014-06-06T04:44:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.amyreesanderson.com\/blog\/?p=4680"},"modified":"2014-06-05T22:45:10","modified_gmt":"2014-06-06T04:45:10","slug":"go-to-it","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.amyreesanderson.com\/blog\/go-to-it\/","title":{"rendered":"Go To It!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In the two years since I sold my company I have taken on several things I have never done before\u2026things I wasn\u2019t sure I was capable of doing. But because of my many years as an entrepreneur I had learned that I should never assume I am not capable of something until I first give it a try, because time after time in the past I was able to do things I never thought would be possible and they worked out great.\u00a0 Often times even better than I ever would have thought. And having the experiences of learning that has made me more willing to take on new things that seem either down right difficult or impossible to do, and each time I have I have found that even though they ended up being incredibly hard and often times painful, I was still able to accomplish the things I set out to accomplish.<\/p>\n<p>I truly believe that so much of success in life comes from trying something and seeing if it works\u2026it\u2019s taking that leap of faith and putting your heart into it to try and make it happen\u2026and magically, it often does!\u00a0 Taking on hard things\u2026really hard things\u2026things that scare us and intimidate us\u2026that is the trick, because when you take on really hard things it forces you to step up your game, to rise to the occasion.\u00a0 It forces you to step outside of your comfort zone and find out who you really are.\u00a0 It allows you to get a glimpse of what you are actually capable of and I believe what you are capable of is ALWAYS much more than you would have expected.<\/p>\n<p>I love the following poem by Edgar Albert Guest<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">It Couldn\u2019t Be Done<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Somebody said that it couldn\u2019t be done<\/p>\n<p>But he with a chuckle replied<\/p>\n<p>That \u201cmaybe it couldn\u2019t,\u201d but he would be one<\/p>\n<p>Who wouldn\u2019t say so till he\u2019d tried.<\/p>\n<p>So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin<\/p>\n<p>On his face. If he worried he hid it.<\/p>\n<p>He started to sing as he tackled the thing<\/p>\n<p>That couldn\u2019t be done, and he did it!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Somebody scoffed: \u201cOh, you\u2019ll never do that;<\/p>\n<p>At least no one ever has done it;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But he took off his coat and he took off his hat<\/p>\n<p>And the first thing we knew he\u2019d begun it.<\/p>\n<p>With a lift of his chin and a bit of a grin,<\/p>\n<p>Without any doubting or quiddit,<\/p>\n<p>He started to sing as he tackled the thing<\/p>\n<p>That couldn\u2019t be done, and he did it.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done,<\/p>\n<p>There are thousands to prophesy failure,<\/p>\n<p>There are thousands to point out to you one by one,<\/p>\n<p>The dangers that wait to assail you.<\/p>\n<p>But just buckle in with a bit of a grin,<\/p>\n<p>Just take off your coat and go to it;<\/p>\n<p>Just start in to sing as you tackle the thing<\/p>\n<p>That \u201ccannot be done,\u201d and you\u2019ll do it.<\/p>\n<p>This weekend when you have a few moments alone sit and come up with one thing that you really want to do but you fear it is either far too difficult or even impossible.
