{"id":4891,"date":"2014-08-17T19:04:02","date_gmt":"2014-08-18T01:04:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.amyreesanderson.com\/blog\/?p=4891"},"modified":"2014-08-17T19:04:12","modified_gmt":"2014-08-18T01:04:12","slug":"forced-family-bonding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.amyreesanderson.com\/blog\/forced-family-bonding\/","title":{"rendered":"Forced Family Bonding"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">Last week my family and I went down to spend a glorious week at Lake Powell with a group of friends.\u00a0 We had a great trip, and although we all came home with colds\u2026yet again\u2026the trip was worth it.\u00a0 We had gone down to Powell a few days before our guests arrived because we wanted to spend a little time alone as a family \u2013 my children teasingly refer to this time alone together as \u201cForced Family Bonding\u201d. They have been throwing that term out a lot this summer to tease us for the large number of family activities we have been doing as we try to maximize our time together before our two kids leave for college at the end of summer.\u00a0 When they first threw the term down my response was \u201cThat is exactly what we are doing! And I am not ashamed to say it!!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The fact is that as parents today you literally have to be willing to actually force some family bonding time to happen or it never will.\u00a0 Our lives are all full of a million things to do, projects to finish, not to mention cell phone texting and emailing and the never ending game of Candy Crush playing that our teenagers are playing.\u00a0 There are so many things that go on every week that literally fill up every second of your day, every day of the week.\u00a0 I don\u2019t know a single person that thinks they have time in life to spare \u2013 do you?\u00a0 Everyone is busy\u2026crazy busy\u2026insanely busy.\u00a0 That is just the high tech, fast paced world we live in.\u00a0 And so every now and then you have to be willing to say \u201cSTOP!
